My boat is gassed, waxed, charged etc...ready to go.

All I need is the weather to cooperate with me and I am in the water.

I'll be summarizing on Saturday. Kids off all next week, I have Wednesday thru the weekend off. Hopefully the wether will cooperate and we'll get out one of those days. Wife is a 80F gal, if it ain't 80, she ain't going. So it'll most likely be me and the boys.

How do you guys decide when it is warm enough to not freeze the block. I know some of you live in colder temps than I do here in Oregon, so I am curious when you decide to go. We had snow all day today, but it didn't stick just flying through the air. We usally don't climb above freezing over night until mid May.

If it drops WELL below 32 degrees for hours at a time - it's not time yet.

If it drops below 32 for a couple hours - probably not enough time to freeze the block and the fluids in it. That process takes a while obviously.

If it hovers in the mid-high 40s during the day then drops to 30-34 at night for a few hours, you are probably ok.

Worst case - use the boat and be sure to drain the block (no need to antifreeze it though).

And I am only speaking from the Pacific Northwest side of things. I claim no knowledge for anywhere other than this geographical area.

Another factor is what sort of storage situation are you in? My boat is kept in my garage at home, so it would probably take temps well into the 20's, if not teens to really be a problem for me.

Outside storage, slip storage, covered storage...lots of variables to consider.

Summer School is NOT in session.

I wouldn't risk it with lows of 23, 25'

Couple more weeks...

Thats what i am thinking. To big of a chance of nights in the teens and days in the low 30's for a few more weeks. I keep telling myself to be patient this year since the shop will be insulated and heated next year. :)

I'm launching this weekend. Lake Mohave, AZ. First weekend of spring break for my son.

Snow...... Revised forecast for west michigan , including southwest lower michigan, is calling for 3-6 inches of snow between Sunday and Monday at noon.

I'm glad our boat is tucked away in heated storage, I can't get that fired up to launch when the chance of having snow on our boat is in the forecast. I'll be glad to wait a couple of more weeks.

If we had a cruiser, we would have been out a bunch already. Wife and kids don't want to ride around in an open bow in anything less than 80 degrees. The kids don't like to just sit on the boat and relax like I do. If they can't get in the water, they don't have much fun. Our water temp is about 61 degrees.

I don't think that Lake Michigan even gets to 61 degrees. At least not till August.

In August, our surface temp is into the 80's. It gets so warm that its not even refreshing to get in sometimes.
