Right now we are kinda just still kicking tires trying to decide what we really want and what we really need and can afford. Probably not actually going to buy anything until maybe next season
Dealers get dozens of these type e-mails every week. They are short staffed in many cases, and can't reply to every "window shopper" in a timely manner. I suspect your inquiry to them included something similar to what you wrote above, if it did, I would not respond to you until I had taken care of someone who is actually interested in purchasing a boat now. A seasoned salesperson can usually tell if the inquiry is worth responding to , or not.
Not sure I can agree with you on this one. IMHO...boat dealers are slower than they have been in years. As someone in sales, you have to follow up on EVERY lead. Sure, many turn out to be dead ends, but surprisingly, many that at first glance seem to be a waste of time turn into lucrative deals.
I cannot believe the sales people are that busy. If they were that busy doing their jobs (selling boats), the marine industry wouldn't be in the state it is...
I don't think ANY boat dealer in this economy (or any economy for that matter) can afford to not simply call someone back or type a couple of lines back to a prospective buyer. A month ago, we traveled 600+ miles (one way) purchase our new FW. There were two dealers that we passed on the trip that never bothered to respond to my emails. I spent $60,000 and would have rather not driven as far as I did.
Again, no disrespect meant as I am new to this board...the above is just my .02
