I'm interested to hear how this goes. On my Sea Ray 185 with glued in carpet, I was told it was unfinished under the carpet and would be a major undertaking to switch it to snap in.

Whats your off season plan?

Praying our boat sells. If it doesn't, probably replace a few things that
need to be freshened up, like carpet, side eisinglas, etc.

1. Winterize & store
2. Pray the boat sells, just like Cap'n
3. Shovel snow
4. With any luck pick up the new boat for the start of next season 8)

Save up enough money to do it again.

It's going to be 82 and sunny this weekend. I don't want to think about the off season until I have to shovel off the swim platform to get on the boat.

For me, I will be looking at the following:
1) Trailer maintenance - new hubs needed all around this year as salt water has taken it 's toll.
2) Hull cleanup - still have to get the cement-like deposits off my hull from sitting in a slip.
3) Reupholstery of the interior - lots of discoloration of the white vinyl. I think my blue boat cover creates a furnace in the heat out here.
4) Install an amp?

I put in a ProMariner 2 bank charger last season and it has worked out well.

Hey, has anyone ever set up a cooling fan with a thermostat to pull cooler air into a covered boat when it gets roasting hot?

+ Transom trim switch - Sounds like a relatively easy project with decent benefits.

David - got any info on your onboard charger? Are you happy with it?

It gets very hot when charging, but it seems to work well. I'd probably go with one of the ProMariner chargers though, seems like several folks are happy with it. This is the one I have:

Here's the dual bank 20amp charger I've been using:

It's the Guest 16202 made by Marinco. Been using it for 2 years now, with no problems - I'd buy it again. Last off season I left the batteries in the boat with the charger on, in a covered but un-heated space 'up north'. Plan on doing that again this off season.

Same as Ardy - finish all my chores - gradually getting through the darned list - then hook the boat up, tow 10 miles to the bay and go have some fun!!

In Melbourne there is no winterizing, and boating season runs pretty much September to April, but if you really wanted to brave the cold (nothing like the cold you get in North america) you could stretch this from August to May.

I store in an under ground non working lime stone mine. 60 acres under ground 56 degrees with 1500 other boats and campers and motor homes. No need to worry about freezing but I do winterize the engine for corrosion purposes. I pull in mid Oct. and right into storage. Save the projects for spring.
