Down when docked. If it is up and you start engine you may not suck in enough water and could "blow"
your impeller (wonder how I know that?). However for the winter I store with it up and never had a problem. Besides I pull the batteries for winter and my storage situation is a real pain to get anything on or off the boat much less install or remove batteries. So, I pull them before traveling to storage. So I have to leave the outdrive up otherwise I make a nice groove in 4 miles of asphalt traveling to storage.
