Well coming from a guy who can't afford any of those boats you have pictured, I would take any of them

The downeast style boat is nice, but it does seem to have to much more vertical rake to the bow and seemingly flatter bottom than the other boats. I'd expect it would handle much differently than the other yachts you were looking at.

Thanks for taking time to post pictures and sharing your thoughts. I've never heard of the Jeanneau, what a beautiful boat!

I see attendance was up 51% this year, compared to last year. Northeast regional sales director for Chris-Craft said they had seen some qualified buyers. (ie. Sierra)

Crownline sold at least 9 boats, compared to only two last year. The only Genmar brand at the show was Glastron.

Marine Max telling me they wrote 68 deals at the show. I heard their sales bell ring three times while I was there on opening night. Follow-up has been excellent with the few sales rep I spent time with. I just heard from Sabre that they had the boat out on the ocean today (!) and it was snowing a bit earlier here in NY. The rep excitedly told me, ' you gotta get out on this thing!' Uh, oh. A worthy year-round boat that I really like? Dangerous. Very dangerous.

Separately, I've seen more than one person make comments similar to mine about the Cruisers reps. There's something very sad about that to me.

Sierra,
Just curious what you think about the Marquis 420 SC ? Too Euro/Italian ? Poor sight lines ?
Too pricey and flashy for your needs? Or something totally different.

Cap'n - The Marquis 420 SC has a lot of the appeal of the Jeanneau, particularly in terms of layout (I love the salon/cockpit design of these boats and, as I keep mentioning, that full-beam sunroof). From the pictures, the interior finishes look amazing. I haven't seen it in person, but can only imagine that it has sight-line issues similar to the Jeanneau and, while I like to reserve judgement until I see something first-hand, it is a bit to 'batmobile' for my tastes. If I make it to the Miami show it will be worth a look.

Thanks Sierra. If you go to Miami, even though it may not be your style, make sure you look at the debut/unveiling of Tiara's all new 4300 Open. Feb 11th is the offical debut to the public. I have seen it in pre production trim, and it looks sweet, if you like that style. I do like there open models. The 4300 is inboard powered, and not IPS.

Another fave of mine is the Sessa C43. Hopefully you get to Miami and can see for yourself.

And of course make sure you look over the new Regal 40SC. I like it better than the 44SC.
Specifications
Length: 42'2"
Beam: 13'
Power: (2) Volvo 8.1 Gi gas IPS 500s
