Yes--I would think attracting flies in any standing water in the boat would be a bigger problem than mice in the summer time. Our first boat sat on the dealer lot for a little while and had this issue.

I guess we all have our routines we follow for various reasons.....whenever i store mine on the trailer I do the following: plug comes out when it clears the ramp and stays out until at the ramp for launch, once parked the lower unit is put down (not to ground but down) to protect the bellows, the tongue is raised for drainage, wipe is all down inside/out, cover goes on, and bow strap is loosened (no need for tension while parked on trailer), batteries turned off carpets pulled and dried returned.

it's more work each time - but doesn't take very long.

SO - yep, yank the plug - my bro trailer swamped his brand new boat (not even taken to water yet).....he thought since it had a top it was fine plus the auto bilge would take care of it........uhhhhh batteries went down, rains kept coming and all tops leak....water was midway up engine and needed a pro flushing, starter, alternator and other electronic repair and new batteries....(that was a brand new boat with test drive hours - under 4 hours on boat)
