My 2001 H170 3.0 would do 40MPH on a good day.

I have a Horizon 180 , with a 5.7 GL engine it and it hits 53-54. Thats the rarest engine you can find in a 18 foot boat and I cant hit 57. Well I haven't messed with props yet , actually I don't want to hit 57 mph. I don't know what gauge would move faster the fuel or the Mph.

Empty boat, 1/4 tank gas, just me (190lb)... Glassy lake. 50ft above sea level. Low 40s.

It runs great. RPM's were in the 5100 range.

That is because you gained 10lbs since your first post (possible, since it is the holidays). Regardless, it sounds like you have a great running boat for her being 11 years old.

At 57mph in your 18 footer the pucker meter would be ahead of the MPH and fuel meters. and by the way I thought we all decided you wouldn't be running the hell out of my next boat. You are only using that boat for the time being. Check with your in-law before you go changing stuff, he obviously knows about boat care.

+1

I still can't imagine that motor in a 180. What a BLAST!

My Four Winns U-17 with a fuel injected 302 only hits 63 so if you are getting 57 out of a 3.0, I'm doing something terribly wrong.

Not to bust any of the know it all types bubbles but I'm running about 46mph in my boat and that's both verified with my Garmin and android phone app. Worse part is that I'm only turning 5000rpms with a 14.25x17 prop. Yes she is underpropped!

Ohh Thats right, i forgot, I wont change a thing. If I knew it was going to stay warm this long I would have put it back in the water for a few more days.. I talked to the marina about getting a spot on the gelcoat touched up on the bottom, storage rack fork lift scuffed the gelcoat. Once they seen the boat and the engine, they wanted to know if i wanted to sell it already.. Told them naaaa too many boating banter fellas to not offer to them first. lol ohh and No I am not selling the boat.. lol
