Hmmm, a change to the construction? That would be a bad thing. Mine are all about 2 years old now. I've never had AE change the construction on me. I have had them cease making a given style, but not change one that's named the same. I'll have to try one at the store when I'm downtown again. If you have a store local I'd advise visiting to see for yourself.

I take a few bad reviews like a grain of salt regardless of shoe make. The Two-Eye Gold Cup Sperry may be the Cadillac of boat shoes but the Allen Edmonds’ Eastport is the Mercedes of boat shoes and that is a well-known and, unaffordable to me, fact. However, as the OP, and given the weather is warm down here in the South (and we have a 5 day weekend complements of my kid's schools' furlough days), I have broken out my brand-new Sperrys and although they are a little stiff and tight, I am impressed with the comfort of the sole. I will let you know what I think about them in a few days.
