Yes they are supposed to be marine plugs and they are more corrosion resistant. I have never had plugs look like that and my boat sits on the salt water mooring for 5-6 months a year. I use the AC Delco Marine plugs.

I've bought 2 sets of replacement plugs ( official VP kits in VP packaging) plus I have the original plugs; none of them are "marine" plugs ! I use colloidal nickel antiseize on the threads plus an anti corrosion spray; Never had one showing rust or seizing.

Going to hit the dealer up on monday and just pick some volvo penta plugs up they probably aren't too expensive I hope.
