Contracts are normally time limited though.

Sorry must have missed your other thread on it.

Okay well I left a message with his voicemail. Let's see what happens.

Tell us about the 205, year, motor, outdrive, condition?

2004 5.0gxi, sx, 70 hours, no flaws that I saw in person. Really clean it must have been stored indoors. Not missing anything, all canvas, fill in seats, etc.

Dealer gave me the run down, they've had it for along time the owner is trying to sell it to get a center console from them. Retired gentleman. It's at a shop 2mi from the beach and when you live beachside owning a cuddy cabin is 100% useless. Dealer wants 17,500 with no less then a few hundred in dealer prep fees and others on top of that. If I do trade in, they will give me $5000 for my boat BUT the boat is 19,000 with all their fees. It's under consignment, unsure of the contract status. I can tell it's been there for months, the batteries were near dead. I got the owner info so I'm going to see what we can do private party. If the dealer wanted to do 17,500 consignment that means I can most likely get it cash from that guy for around the 15,000 mark because that's all the marina is going to give him.

They have done a ton to the Sundowners since 1997, wish mine had the newer seating/interior. Looks great.

Minimum of 6 months in areas like here where that is the length of the season. If Florida, where the season is virtually unlimited, the contract may be even longer.

Don't hold your breath on this one.

Just spoke with the owner. Nice guy. It's under contract until the end of July. He doesn't like that dealership either. He's going there Friday to see about pulling it out and ending the terms of the consignment he thinks he put a clause in there to do so...

He said they also did the ad wrong, it's 55 hours not 70 on the boat. He's the original owner, kept inside storage it's whole life with every option except DP, only serviced by the four winns dealer up til a year or 2 ago when they closed locally. He said it's mine, he's happy a fellow four winns owner wants it and will put it back in storage until I sell my boat. His price is $16,500 cash out the door. WOOHOO!!!

I'm not picking you you ric, but I'm going to be VERY surprised if you get "away" with it. I'm all for getting a deal and have no problem using a different dealer if this guy sucks, but you're playing with pretty specific contract law. I'd make 110% sure when the lawsuit comes on the seller, you are protected. Even write it onto your bill of sale. It may be time for your attorney buddy to step up for you.

No, he thinks he has a "get out" clause and if so it's out Friday. If not, It's out of contract in less then a month. No big deal.

You may be considered the dealers contact still. On my last boat, it was at a different broker than when I had originally put an offer in. It ended up selling through the original broker.

The boat is off the lot. He just had to pay a $60 "storage" fee. It's now free and clear out of contract back in his hands. Tomorrow I put down deposit and get intent of purchase paperwork filled out. Monday he goes to bank and satisfies his loan. In a few business days he will have title in mail, we visit my bank I wire him the money and he signs title to me and I take boat home!

Woohoo! Hard work paid off

Ric, are you having a survey done on the boat or at least a sea trial before you part with your hard earned?

Ok. So instead of paying $19,000 due to dealer commission/fees, you pay $16,500 and save $2,500. I think this was a smart move unless you are stuck with two boat payments. You could have traded your old boat in on the deal and be done with it but now you are the newest member of the dreaded "two boat owners club". If you own your old boat free and clear, I think it was a smart move. If not, I hope you can unload it quickly. Making two boat payments, slip payments, insurance payments, tax payments and maintaining and cleaning two boats gets old quick. Good luck.

I pay everything cash in full at time of purchase. I hate bills.

I'm not taking delivery for another week or 2, but it's still on the dealer's website
