I think they could have used a little more wood in it's construction Image

The Formula does have a cuddy cabin.

If you don't mind bottom paint, this is a nice 245 in SL.

Not looking good now. The seller rejected my offer and now is totally having second thoughts about selling it all. He wants to take it with him to Traverse City in a week and think about it whether or not he should let it go.

I did counter him again and he is discussing it with his wife, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The pictures really do not do justice of how nice this boat really is.

bummer...

Awesome boat ! I would wait for that one. Hopefully he sells after one last ride. PQ's are no longer made, and are
highly respected in the go-fast world. Solid, well built and right at home on the big lake.

It's too bad Powerquest couldn't survive.

What was the last year of production?

They made a pretty impressive boat. I never did hear, did someone buy the assets? Is anyone planning to build boats with the molds again?

If I ever had the opportunity to buy an early PowerPlay 185 xlt for cheap, it would be hard to resist.

Thats what I thought.

PQ first went out of business in 2005. They didn't open again until 2007.

The boat you are interested in is listed at a 2006. It must have been built just before they shut the doors the first time.

It is important to note that between 2001 and 2005 it was investment company that owned the company.

I'm not saying the 2006 boat isn't great. In fact it could be one of the last "real" PowerQuests built.

They auctioned off the molds and equipment months ago, not sure who picked them up.
My former slip neighbor had a 185 XLT. Scary fast little boat.
There is a 1992 185 XLT in Ironwood, Mi

When we were boat shopping 3 years ago, I made an offer on a 320SC. Seller would not move
from his price. I see he still has it for sale. Love the 320SC for a big lake boat and overnighter.

The current offer on the table is $32,500. My hang up is that the NADA is only $25,500, so I would already be paying a pretty stiff premium. There just are no good sale or listing comps out there, besides one out East listed for $28K.

Do you think it's worth the full $37k if I decided to reach in my piggy bank a little further?

I just don't see another one coming along anytime soon, especially a 2006 with such low hours and mint condition. The 240/237 (same hull) is still a nice size for the big lake, but not too big to tow around if I decide not to in/out it next year.

I really like that 240. And if it is a clean as you say, I would be very tempted to pay the man. Rare boat that is only a few years old. PQ's hold their value very well over time. You can find a few brands of 24' cuddy's out there, but there is something special about owning a PQ, and that model especially.

Not sure how you like Baja, but these 232's are also a nice size sport cuddy. A bit less $'s , but a few years older.

There's only a handful of cuddys made in the 2003+ era. Some good, most not, and not a single one that's perfect. Every design has it's gives and takes. I have fallen in love with the Monterey 228 SIC. It's designed for a single owner or a couple in mind putting half naked girls on the sun pad or bigger stabbin cabin where the Sundowner 205 is designed more for the family of 4 and keeping kids inside the boat.

Baja's are cheap in Florida, that boat here would be 19k. No faster then a Monty 228 SIC with half the room. No thanks.

yeah, it's pretty tough to find a PQ that isn't decked out all in purple or teal. The color scheme of this one looks really nice in person. The layout is perfect and you could eat off the engine and bilge.

I can completely understand why he is having second thoughts. He kept saying that he may not have a chance to get into another "go fast" boat like this again without spending $100K. He bought this one new and I'm assuming he paid north of $60K for it.

The deal is officially on hold. He is gonig to take the boat to TC and will decide when he returns. he said he would not sell to anyone without checking with me first.

BTW - I did decide to make the full offer (at least mentally), but will wait for his return and decision about selling as I still may be able to get it for the $32,500, since that is the current deal on the table.

Now the bad thing is I have to let my buyer know that I cannot sell my boat today. I will lose him for sure snice he already has choice #2 ready to go.
