i wish i had control of a drone and i could do a night fly by with 2,000 pounds of chopped fish. canvas the FH and then watch from a web cam the flock of sea lions and birds make home on the FH decks. This would make for pleasant entertainment.

I get it that you think he's nuts, but wanting to actively destroy his work just to entertain yourself says just as much about your character as his arguably misguided seamanship does about his, and I say that as someone with a lot of respect for you based on your other posts here.

I think that the comments about damaging his product are more aimed at the fact that some day this project will fail miserably and create misery for everyone around it.

Think of an overweight man with multiple medical problems going on a long hike on a mountain pass, unprepared for the elements in December. Amazingly enough, this gentleman gets stuck in the most inaccessible spot on the mountain. And then guess what? Yep - a multiple thousand dollar rescue effort for someone who - should have known better. And who will foot the bill? You and I.

I want to test the structural integrity of the decks and hull. This is a scientific experiment with real world data applications.

Yes, the Flyin' Hawaiian is ugly as sin, but the fact of the matter is that he built the thing from scratch and against all imaginable odds the thing still appears to be floating over a year later. That in itself is a hell of an accomplishment in my opinion.

Granted, it hasn't made it out of SF Bay, and likely never will, AND might well get turned into matchsticks before reaching the Farallon Islands, but this guy had a dream and made the first part of it happen.

Good for him!

I don't want to live in Hawaii or in a shanty. I'm looking at a house tonight. It's a neighborhood over. 3/2/2 car garage. 1/4 acre land. It's in the subdivision next door to me on my lake so I still get boat ramp and boat parking access.
