I would have thought that when properly inflated a life vest wouldn't be necessary.

Sitting on the boat having a drink. It's like being on the hook when the power is out at the marina due to the storms that just ripped through

Picked up my new head unit today - $100 from eBay as guy sold the boat before installing it. A new in the box Duel AMB600W. It is a marine designed head unit with Bluetooth audio streaming, CD, USB, SD Card, reasonable power, and 2 pairs of preamp out for the tower speakers and amp (And maybe a sub).

Looking forward to installing it this week, along with the amp and the tower stuff.

I really want to buy a GoPro Hero 3 White edition, but my car needs new rear tires BAD.

Today's project is to build a PVC guide pole for the jet ski trailer and replace the two side marker lights. I can't see the damn thing backing up when the ski is off. Pretty much like a 1-2in 4ft pole held on by two U bolts.

i have a set of the magnetic bright yellow fiberglass trailer guide poles that you can put not he ball and tung to align. i also use them for the ski trailers and the little utility trailers.. strong magnet. I like that i can transfer them easy to whatever i am towing and they were $15.....

You could do a short fiberglass pole (the bicycle poles or go cart poles) use 1/2" span U bolt it to the trailer frame. as you do not need hard guides just an indicator guide for trailer backing when empty. and the glass pole is flexible easy and will not harm the ski..

speaking of skis my buddy took the head of his Yam GP1200R to work today and shaved 35thou off of it boosting it to 160psi on the 800cc 2cyl jugs that make 60hp vs the stock 51hp 1200 jugs. the jugs will get a 90mm bore to make the motor 1390cc.. should be fun. other goodies include: ride plate, intake grate, jets, modified air box, upgraded jet pump. it will be ran with a stock impeller with this configuration and the new nozzle to see base numbers and determine which pitch impeller to add. hoping to see mid to upper 70s with these mods and the hull mods.. over the stock 63-64mph..

just a little toy that 2 friends have been playing with on the cheap..

I'm not going to touch the insides of the engine on my 1300. I'm more concerned about the handling, we have A LOT of very tight twisty rivers here in FL.

Today I was revising my budget. When I was younger how the hell did I survive on 30-35k a year??? I'm making 75 now at 32yo and I can only put away 1k a month into savings after all bills/gas (boat/ski/car)/work week lunch/etc are paid and giving myself a $150 week budget for whatever. 1k in savings a month is just not good enough for me. Need at least 1500-2000 a month for my long term goals.

I need to make more money somehow.

Well ric when I was 32 I did not have a BMW, boat and 'ski. Had an '89 Toyota Corolla GTS with a 4AGE twin cam that was a fun ride, kept it 9 years. Focused on paying my mortgage off early and that enabled me to save more fore retirement and son's college. Stii have the same boat as you all know and don't buy new vehicles for myself anymore. Housing costs and taxes here in NY would blow your mind...

Ric you just spend too much money. What has happened is over the years your income has increased and equally your expenses have increased thus your savings have decreased or remained the same. Reduce your expenses.

Well I am once again back at looking at chart plotters too many areas that I do not know up here on the lakes and too many shallows and obstacles. I want the Lowrance HDS7 but I feel it is a bit too expensive. So I am looking at the Lowrance elite 7 chart plotter which balances features with cost. But I am hitting a wall. As I feel tat it may produce too much of a blind spot on the dash from the test pattern I wS holding up on the dash. The elite 4 will fit on a RAM mount to the right but 4 is way too small and the entire point is to get something larger than my iPhone Navionics screen. The elite 5 is just a smudge smaller than the 7 but has a significant smaller screen. Uuuh.

iPhone 6 Plus?

:P

Sorry, but it had to be said...

More seriously, how about an iPad? I use an iPad 2 with Navionics and while I've managed with it, I haven't been super happy with it's functions. For the river channels I run on, the charting is good, but using it to plan a route is a joke and a half, as least as far as I've figured out. So I wonder if there are better packages or if a dedicated plotter is much better.
