It would be paid in three winters at most and last alot longer than one shrink wrap season. I personally don't trust shrink wrap for "what if" it some how got punctured or heavy snow accumilated on the boat. I have always had my half and full covers on my old slickcraft. Never wanted to take a chance

I highly recommend you check out transhield covers. We bought one for our 268 in 2010 and it's still in perfect condition. Thicker than shrink wrap, can be shrunk or used as a removable cover like we did, felt lined, has built in vents, and a full length drawstring. The best part is it only cost us $140.00 shipped to our door

If I may add a couple thoughts about adding fuel stabilizer. You probably want the Blue (marine) Stabil not the red (auto) Stabil. I didn't notice that in any of the responses (if I missed it - sorry). The blue is formulated for gasoline containing 10% ethanol. If you get your gasoline from a gas station, you'll need to use this. If you buy your gasoline from a marina it probably does not contain ethanol so the red Stabil is OK.

I suspect this changes a bit from-place to place around the country but where I boat (Virginia) the marinas all sell straight gasoline. Actually a few of the local gas stations have it available too.

So, I just completed my first round of winterization this fall too. Let me know if you find any problems with this approach with respect to draining water and adding antifreeze. I pulled all four plugs and drained water. Pulled two main hoses at t-stat housing and water pump and drained them as well. Filled motor with antifreeze through t-stat hose until antifreeze came out top of motor. Then cranked motor to cycle antifreeze through remaining engine components such as power steering pump, etc. My old man was my winterizing mentor. He is an automobile mechanic/repair shop owner and a former long-time boat owner. Thanks for your input.

First..I use pink marine stabil for long storage times and blue at all the fill ups...both are marine and are for ethanol....I use diesel stabil too for tractor and truck...have used this product for all small and big engines for years with no probs. As far as winterizing...everyone is little different..sounds like your dad has thought you well. I spin motor with hoses disconnected to throw water out of veins in pumps, but I don't add antifreeze so work a little more on complete water evacuation.

Then again I'm in southern Texas and in way warm climate.
