All is well on the homestead, but not sure about the marina. Seatow (on Facebook-Cape May) reported several boats in area marinas sunk or piled up on shore. We're safe!

I saw pix over on www.thehulltruth.com and www.boatered.com of damage to South Shore Long Island marinas. It's like a war zone. Boats strewn everywhere, let in the middle of major intersections and even on railroad tracks. It will take years for these places to rebuild and for boating to get back to normal there. Glad I have a small trailerable boat that I can easily move out of harms way.

Pictures of the damage (http://www.noreast.com/discussion/ViewT ... 058&page=9). I don't think if your boat was on the hard or in the water would have mattered given that kind of surge. I have often stated that I was envious of you big water boaters but not this time. Damn shame and hope all are well.

Just got power back after 11 days on generator power. We were really lucky because living way up on a hill on the North Shore of LI no worry about flooding but the road by the boatyard flooded and one of the big boats fell over. Most of the boats in the water were ok, mine I pulled out Friday and was in my driveway. South Shore LI was devastated, most of it is just at sea level like NewOrleans. It will take years for it to come back.

Terrible devastation but glad you escaped damages....we had same issues with Ike. I lost a roof and had water damage as result. Honestly what was hard for me to understand was the 30 power company crews that drove from Texas to help were greeted by union shmucks hollering obsenities at them upon arrival.....did that get reported up there? Result was some crews going home instead of helping.....wonder how much longer that added to repairs.

Ontario and Quebec also sent crews. I wonder how they were greeted?

Well we greeted any workers because by day 5 it was getting old, long long gas lines lucky I filled up the boat at the end of the season and was able to pump out 25 gallons.

Not a lot of fun I'm sure. How goes it now?

It is amazing the number of people who have been driven out of their homes.

North Shore Suffolk where I am is pretty much ok, eastern LI where I visited today had less damage that we did. South Shore LI still very bad, could be as many as100000 houses uninhabitable.

Boston really did not get hit too bad! Mainly falling trees taken down the power lines.

We lost power that day of the storm for 8hrs than lost it again the the next day for another 8hrs. I bought a genny last year & happy I did.

I ran our genny about 100 hrs, used about 60 gallons of gas and just changed the oil. Genny was a lifesaver, it got down to 34*f and Wednesday nite we had a nor'easter with high winds and snow. Never had snow here that early before.
