Well chrisvs, my wife and I will be attending the Toronto Boat Show on the first Saturday of the Boat Show or we'd accept your offer as a subsitute for ardy, but we'd offer to cough up for the second round of drinks :).

Anyone else attending the first Saturday?

Mike.

We will be there the first Friday and the first Saturday.

Terry, I'd guess you would be attending the Toronto Boat Show Preview Night on Friday, then follow up with attending the show again on Saturday?

My wife and I are booked in at the Westin for Saturday night. Would you be staying at the Westin or Sheraton?

Hi Decision

Yes we are on for the friday and we are booked at the Weston Harbour Castle for both Friday and Sat evening. We are not sure if we will keep our reservation for Sat as we may head home but will see.
If you like send me a e mail on Sat and we can try and hook up, we will be with 2 or 3 other couples.
send to "terryd@ncitrucks.com" would be nice to hook up if you have time

Terry,

I'll send an email to the email address you provided above today (Monday).

I think we should be able to find a mutually convenient time on Saturday to meet up.

Mike.

I bought the $40 ticket for the preview night and was at the show for 4 hours last night. I will NEVER go to the boat show on any other night, ever again. There wasn't a single line for any boat, except the SeaRay 58 - and even that was only about 12 people. I skipped that and walked right onto the 51 beside it. By far, my favourite boat at the show was the Cruisers Cantius 45. I'm still not sure about the full windshield - I'm kinda like a dog that likes my head in the wind, but I think the sunroof would help me get over that. Many of the boats had the same concept where everything you need for daily activity (except the head and bedrooms) is up in the cockpit, which is where you want to spend all your time.
One thought - why on a boat that cost $800k+ can't they have quality drawers with dovetail joints? I didn't see a single boat that had this basic feature that any quality home dresser has. Odd.

A request was made above for information about the Toronto Boat Show prices for Four Winns boats. See below for images taken from the video displays at the individual Four Winns boats at the show.
Time permitting, I might post additional pics.

Went to the show today. My wife loved the V475. One of the sales guys told me they picked up a '12 model with even more options than the boatshow display model from a dealer going under in Florida. The model was 699k, the boat from florida could be had for 510k

I'm checking to see how much one kidney goes for these days

You're welcome on the Four Winns boat prices Cap'n. My wife took a number of shots of the new 34 Carver bridge boat you mentioned above. I'll try and post pics later. We toured this Carver and spoke with the sales guy who apparently did an in water test of this boat over the US Thanksgiving weekend.

I was surprised (according to him) that the only gas engines available where twin 5.7 litre and the only other option was diesel. He claimed WOT with gas was about 35 MPH, but what would concern me is the cruise RPM was around 4000 RPM. That boat is pretty heavy in my opinion for 5.7's.

I guess a pair of 8.1's wouldn't fit well?

Oh, and on a more important note, I didn't know about or get to see the Power Boat Girls to give an evaluation of how I would rate their individual layouts. :(

Yep, the only engines listed for the new 34Fly are 5.7L gasser's. Diesels are VP D4's at 300hp each. I would go for the diesel's with the
bow and stern thruster and the Xenta joystick control's if I was buying one.
8.1's should fit, but I believe it is a cost reason for the 5.7L's. Trying to keep the cost down on this new 18,000 lb. boat.

If I ever win the lottery, the flybridge boat I still lust after is the Carver 360SS. There is one locally(2003) for just over $100K. Alot of boat
for the money, when comparing to a 36' express cruiser. But, alas, I don't play the lottery, so I ain't gonna be winnin' in the near future, and I like the simplicity of the boat we have now.

Post some pics when you get a chance.

You're right Cap'n on the 5.7's being a cost issue. I was just going to edit my above post to mention this, as that is exactly the reason given by the sales guy as to why just two engine options are given and the 5.7's would allow Carver to market this boat at a pricing point they wanted to hit.

It personally would bother me to purchase a boat as heavy as this 34 Carver and know when I'm up on plane cruising that I'm spinning those 5.7's around 4000RPM. Maybe just me?

I'm quite interested in viewing bridge boats under 40ft as something like the Merdian 391 would be a size and layout of boat my wife and I would prefer for our next boat. This would be however when my wife and I are closer to retirement and would be able to spend more than just weekends and holidays on our boat.

I'll look up the Carver 360SS.

Mike.

Just got back from the show, Sorry Cap'n no pics had my 2 little one with us at the show. We spent the entire day there. My wife really liked the Carver. I would say hands down for me if i had the 550k i would buy the Meridian 391.
I was a little turned off on the cheap white bimi top on the Carver on the fly. Put a hard top on it and i would have liked it.
