the weight of 20' of chain is not going to alter the handling of your boat.. and your not going ot carry 100' of chain if you do your going ot have a full chain line.. another option is you can do 5' chain 5' rope 5' chain 5' rope and this will keep your anchor on the bottom..

your doing something wrong.. either too little chain or the anchor is too damn small for the weight of your boat.. the only times i have EVER has a slip anchor issue ever.. has been too much weight for the anchor rating.. aka 5 boats on one hook..

can you post a picture of your anchor and a beer can so i can see the flute sizes.. most likely your flutes are too small and or too little chain..

If you think about is say if you have 100# of chain even heck thats easy 30'+ 3/8 link... your telling me your boat will have issues plaining with a wife or GF on the bow?? i cant see the 100# effecting performance. now 800# yes.. but your boat size 30' chain would be plenty..

Just to clarify who are you talking too? The original poster with the anchor issues hasn't been on this thread in weeks.

I second the "MONSON SUPREME" Best anchor I have used in 30 years of boating (with proper rode/scope/chain -- and all that other stuff)

Yes, Florida Inland Lakes have a lot of muck and weed in the deep areas. I can see where the Monson Supreme or a Plow anchor would get through the muck and weed & down into the sand much better than a sand anchor.

Where I boat... it's weedy in the shallower areas and once it gets deep it's just muck.
