Let me know when you get that floor stripped and I'll send you some carpet samples and get you a good buy on snap-in carpeting :D

I'm interested to hear how this goes. On my Sea Ray 185 with glued in carpet, I was told it was unfinished under the carpet and would be a major undertaking to switch it to snap in.

I've seen some people just leave the old glue-in carpet and place snap-in over it(without the snaps). The carpet and backing is heavy enough that it'll stay put nicely.

Would like to replace my present lay in carpet. Something without the black rubber backing thet wears on the non skid and leaves a fine black residue. Any suggestions?

I got some indoor/outdoor carpet from Menards, copied my old factory lay in carpet, and then had bindings installed on the edges. It works pretty good, can't beat the price!

What is Menards--Like Home Depot or Lowes?

Correct. Cost me $0.43 sq ft for the carpet, and I just layed out the big roll I bought in my garage, traced the old carpet on the new, cut it out, and had it bound. Same exact size as the factory lay in, but without that black rubber backing to come apart.

Not a bad idea, but some of that carpet they sell is real thin, and bunches up and moves around and gets out of place easily. The pieces should be big enough to not be a real problem providing it is not too thin.

Check out http://www.corinthianmarine.com , they have all the factory carpet Four Winn's uses but with a vinyl ribbed backing as opposed to the black rubber stuff. I can send you some free sample swatches of various colors if you're interested.

I am sure the stuff Corinthian is selling is good quality... it better be for 6-9/square foot (the teak sample I got is 9/sq foot).

That's over 10 times the price of the Home Depot alternative. :D

Anyone know what a factory carpet kit will run from FW? I haven't checked with Ryan over at Winnisquam - but it can't be much more than $9/sq foot.

Hey Corinthian -- give is forum members a huge discount! :D That's big coin for us! We're all cheapskates!

Can you make it look like the teak swim platform I have? Maybe a little spray paint?

:D
