This is just not going to end well. Over on SA I read he's planning on moving to hawaii and living aboard? Or traveling elsewhere in the south seas from there? That mess would be lucky to make it out of the harbor, let alone across any stretch of the south atlantic. That and apparently they've run short on cash. Just how does he plan to outfit that thing for a journey?

I just really hope this story doesn't end with deaths at sea. I don't wish for him to fail, but that thing is just not going to be seaworthy enough to go anywhere.

The tragedy here is that unlike someone's folly on land there's not going to be anything of value left when this goes horribly wrong. It'll just be money almost literally thrown into the water.

UPDATE 7/27: THE FLYING HAWAIIAN MAKES IT OUT OF THE MARINA

Continuing to defy the odds and astonish the boat builders on Saling Anarchy, HotRod leaves Loch Lomond marina in one piece and heads out to San Francisco bay.

UPDATE 08/01: THE FLYIN' HAWAIIAN HAS DISAPPEARED FROM IT'S ANCHORAGE. SPECULATION ABOUNDS!

As last reported on the Sailing Anarchy forum on July 31, the FH was still anchored just east of the Marin Islands in San Francisco Bay.

However, early morning reports show the FH has disappeared from it's anchorage and is no where to be seen. As usual on this site, rampant speculation abounds:

How deep is the water there? Has there been a storm or anything that would cause a problem for them?
