Our marina is 70 miles from home. On a good day, we are there in a hour. We go down either Friday night or Saturday morning and stay til Sunday night or we even can do a Monday morning.

One there, we open our camper canvas, turn on the air and open a beer.

IMO, this set up beats trailering.

You're down at Heritage Harbor right? One of these days I'd like to chat with you about costs, amenities, atmosphere, etc. We're planning on putting our house on the market soon and perhaps moving out to the burbs. This might involve leaving the Chicago harbor system.

We keep the Swept Aweigh slipped at South Bay Marina. About a ten minute drive from our house. Eventually we plan on making the move to Sturgeon Bay, keeping her at Harbor Club, that move is a couple of years away. I love the fact that I can go down there whenever I want and even if I don't take it out, I can hang out shoot the breeze with my fellow dock mates who are hanging out for the same reason!

My boat sits on the lift, which is 100 feet away from our Summerhouse. Tube, Skis, Wakeboard, Boogie boards are stored under the canopy of the lift so all we have to do is choose the toy of the day, load up and, turn Blower on, lower the lift, Start engine and Go. Admiral takes care of food and cooler so it takes no time to go down to water.
As long as it is not pouring rain we can go out on water with minute notice. We were on vacation last week and we have put 30 hours on our boat…

Only problem… Our summerhouse is 6 hours away from our prime residence in Boston area…

Our boat is 2.5 hours away from home.

The marina is about an 8 minute walk from the Admiral's family's cottage. It is kept in a slip so it is about 10 minutes to get the cover off, load up all the kid's stuff and go.

If the weather would cooperate we'd be there every weekend. This summer, our first with a boat, we've averaged about every other weekend. But even with that not all the days we've been there have been good boating days.

Normally a 4 hour drive from downtown Toronto to the Marina however on Labour day weekend (Friday afternoon) due to long weekend traffic it was 5 1/2 hours.....
The fantastic weather made up for the long drive though. :D
