260hp, bravo 3. The price is too high but that can be dealt with.

Hard to find a Chap cuddy in that size. Excellent boats, very well made, and do command a high re-sale price. Thus how it is listed.
It would be a tie in my book between the Monterey 228 and the Chap 235 for best in class cuddy's. Just depends on what layout you prefer.

I love it and the layout, but that engine sucks. Probably will only do high 20's cruise and mid 40's top speed. No thanks, not for that price. 4 people on that thing will be worse then having 4 on my H180 3.0. If I go the cuddy route it has to break the 50mph mark. If I save my pennies and eventually just get a Vista, I'd be okay with mid 40s.

That boat did come with the 6.2L now that would be awesome. People say they do around 62mph and low 40's cruise haha. I'm still trying to get a hold of the guy with the Monty with the 5.7GXi DP. His neighborhood is high class gated with armed guards. I'll mail him a letter today.

I wonder if it has a trailer.... but to be honest I don't need one. I just need it plopped down in my river. That's in the same price range as the 248 Vista but faster and 2 years newer.

Loaded with air, and everything. Great performing hull also. The "new fuel tank" part of the add does make me wonder though......

Has your "wanted" add resulted in any good leads yet? I may end up posting one as well....

Talked with the guy about the 2002 Chap cuddy. Lowest he'll go is 19k and the NADA is 16,500. Ridiculous. It has a painted trailer, no camper canvas, no covers, no electronics except factory radio, no records, and base model engine.

People are dreaming, especially when you can get a freaking 2 year newer cruiser fully loaded for his asking price!

The Monty 262 the guy will take 21,000 out the door, that's what he owes the bank. He purchased a bigger boat and this one just sits on the lift. He sounds straight up, he said what we would do is mail a check for the loan amount of $21k to his bank and the paperwork to release the title to my name. Standard procedure (unlike that dork with the 205 sundowner).

No trailer, and I only have 18k to play with. I could rent one for $100/day.. but I'm still $3000 short.

This 262 is older but closer. Looks clean in the pictures. I suppose trailer cost for the other 262 would be about the same as fuel cost to drive this one home from Jacksonville on the water. But that would be more fun than pulling it. Smaller motor, and no A/C ???

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1999- ... -101651722

At least this add gives you a better idea how much space you have in this boat. More like a 268 Vista .

Or maybe a 2000 262 with trailer, A/C, and a Big Block 7.4L and DP. for 24K

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2000- ... ser-332027

Note: Interesting cockpit convertible seating, don't think FW did that on their boats until recently.

I do like the 262. From pictures it's the same price and luxury as a FW, but seems a little more feature packed. Ya'll have pretty much convinced me that an express cruiser is the logical next step. Looks like I'll be boatless til Nov/Dec while I raise the extra 4-5k. I'm pretty sure they'll be some winter deals going on by then. I'd like to stick with Four Winns but who knows?

sigh, it's going to be a boring summer.

I'm not going to lie going from smaller boats my whole life to something like the 262 kinda scares me in one major way. I just wonder if I'm going to miss the fun of something small and nimble. Does the fun of the wind in your hair and having fun get lost in something bigger? My H180 was basically a water taxi, it was the sexy little transportation to the destination. The beach hang out, the bar, etc. In my illogical thinking a cuddy would still serve that purpose with the option to overnight. Does something like the Vista still work like that? Or does it open more doors because instead of using the boat to reach the destination... now the boat is the destination?

And of course you look like a boss idling into the guest parking of the local bar haha. I've been around the marina my whole life and still when I see a nice express cruiser roll in I say to myself... damn that's sweet.
