At some point, the price of that Monterey and the trade-in or selling price of your FW will make the whole thing attractive anyway.

hell - you could lowboall - sell your boat and still more than make up the difference on that monterey.

If there is any way for you to be a 2 boat owner - I'd seriously consider it. keep the trade out of the equation. Could you put your boat on consignment maybe?

I agree - forget the trade-in if you can. The ad says freshwater only but it's located in Clearwater, Florida. Hmmm - makes me wonder. The outdrives look clean enough to be freshwater only.

Marine Max is lousy at posting adds. They show one thing, and describe another. During this sale they had a 320DA that said Inboard/Outboard power on the boat, the pictures were of an Inboard V-drive 320DA. What is it really ????

The boat is a Texas boat and STILL in Texas....confirmed that today.

I cant be a two boat owner due to negative equity in my current boat. This has to work as a package. I am soliciting some bids from 2 different buyers right now. If they can make those numbers work, I am a buyer. I finally have a REAL cash price that they will sell me the Monterey for. The only hitch is my trade boat at this point.

Hopefully the Monty was not a Hurricane Ike boat. Worth checking it's history and location since new if possible.

Somebody picked up this Rinker 250FV for $7,950. I guess then engine and drive and some other parts would be worth at least that much. Brings back some sad memories if Ike from
a year ago when I look at these damaged boats.

Nothing that one of those Porter Cable Psuedo Buffer's, Duct Tape and a Spectrum Color Patch Kit won't take care of.

The more I ponder this, the more I realize that I am having to make too much effort to make this pan out. I just dont think this is in the cards for me at this time in my life. I havent heard back from a couple outside buyers on my boat, but unless they totally blow me away with a number, I am going to give up on this.

I really like my boat and have done a few things to make it mine (LED's, Stereo upgrades etc). While moving up to my dream of owning a cruiser is closer than its ever been...I am just not sure the timing is financially right (damn the car business!!!). I am making a massive move to get completely out of debt, other than my wife's truck, our house and our boat loans. Taking on a larger expense will be totally counter productive to making all of that work out. I am not sure its worth it. Of course I would LOVE and enjoy a cruiser, there is is something to be said for being at peace in my own mind. No doubt I would buy it IF I didnt have a boat to trade. The reality is that we know all boats take a massive depreciation hit in the first 2-3 years, then they level off for a while. If they tell me my boat is worth $17,500 right now, I have to think it will be worth it in another year or 2. I might as well enjoy what I have and keep doing what is really the right thing to do by getting as liquid as possible.

Couldn't agree more. There will be other cruisers for you to look at when the time is right. Less leverage on depreciating assets = a good thing these days.
