I find no difference in "feel" between my 238 and my brothers 18' invader. This past weekend we cruised the entire length of the lake @ 38-42 mph taking turns in the lead jumping one anothers wake. I find the 238 to be very nimble, sharp turns, pops out of the water quick and at 40mph I definitly get wind in what is left of my hair. We use ours as a watter taxi as well, cruise to the shallows, jump into the water for drinks and laughs, difference is when others start to leave we often fire up the BBQ, break out the guitar and slip into evening mode. When I visit friends at thier cabins I already have my bedroom with me, tie up to their dock and not worry about time. I grew up sailing and became used to sleeping on the water, and I have to say even today my best sleep is when on the boat. the little things like privacy to change out of wet clothes, wife loves having the private bathroom and apparently it makes a good bar set up if thats more your speed. And you are right there is a certain pride in knowing that your cabin is 40mph portable...
My 2 cents but that said I know everybody is different.
If I were in florida and had access to the islands I would definitly want a comfortable overnighter.

Buy a couple of kayak's to hold you over for the summer boating fix.

I'm not going to lie going from smaller boats my whole life to something like the 262 kinda scares me in one major way. I just wonder if I'm going to miss the fun of something small and nimble. Does the fun of the wind in your hair and having fun get lost in something bigger? My H180 was basically a water taxi, it was the sexy little transportation to the destination. The beach hang out, the bar, etc. In my illogical thinking a cuddy would still serve that purpose with the option to overnight. Does something like the Vista still work like that? Or does it open more doors because instead of using the boat to reach the destination... now the boat is the destination?
And of course you look like a boss idling into the guest parking of the local bar haha. I've been around the marina my whole life and still when I see a nice express cruiser roll in I say to myself... damn that's sweet.
