1969 427 390 HP 4 speed. Car is all original and numbers matching. 59K miles on the ODO. Never wrecked or painted. She is a survivor and I drive her quite often![/quote]

I love the look of these cars, its great to hear yours is unmolested.

There was a '72 around town for few years that was a daily driver for someone. It was beat to hell, and it had a trailer hitch on it to boot. Drove me nuts every time I saw it.

Wow. Beautiful car. Newer vettes just do not have the appeal of the older body style.

Awesome Vette. Does it have the M-22 Rockcrusher 4-speed?

Actually not sure if it has the M20, 21, or 22...

does it whine in 1st? esp on deceleration?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ariSmo2VNcQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL0bm5Rnltk

Whine is due to the square cut gears in the M-22
back in the day to us this was the proper sound track for a musclecar. M-22 Rockcrusher and a Hurst shifter...

I checked the build sheet and mine has a close ratio M21. I got this car from a friend who is a collector (he has over 30 GTO's). I bought this one because it is so mechanically sound and has all the provenance. Also the right price. I was not interested in a garage queen or a frame off project car. 1967's in the condition and same specs as my 69 are double the price so I believe that there is a lot of upside left in a C3 Corvette (if you get a good one). 1968's were problematic and have a lot of unique parts that were changed for the 1969 year going forward. Obviously an L88 would be nice but way too much $$. So from an investment prospective the best bet is a 1969, low mileage, numbers matching, convertible, 427 (in any spec), 4 speed. I only am interested in the chrome bumper, pre-smog, C3's. The other one I would have gotten is an Lt1, but a good one is also spendy.

Approximately 22 hours of work to go for me and then a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise aboard the Norwegian Dawn. Looking forward to the views from our balcony room, some zip lining and cave tubing in Belize City, some Sea Kayaking in Roattan, Bay Islands, Honduras and just being around water that isn't starting to freeze over. :)

Mike.

Nice!! Enjoy! It must be so much more special living in a winter wonderland coming out on a Cruise. Being local to it all, cruises are just something you do when you're bored and feel like spending $200 (locals get massive last minute discounts to fill the boats).

Are those last minute deals only available to locals (FL residents), or could someone who could get there in short notice also book? Given a super deal on a cruise per person, a last minute deal could work if the airfare isn't ridiculous. Off-hours flights from the northeast down there are often pretty reasonable, depending on time of year.

Anybody anywhere can get last minute discounts. Just look at cruises.com or hook up with a Florida travel agent.

I think a number of sources offer "last minute deals" and these are somewhat based on the time of year and of course how well the cruise ship is booked.

Just for information, we normally vacation between Christmas and over New Years each year. We pick this time as my wife works with the school board and my son is in public school and is off school for the Christmas holidays. Doing a cruise in the last week of December while still on the cruise over New Years eve is an expensive time to cruise as compared with other times of the year. We typically book our cruise almost a year in advance and flight about 330 days in advance to try and get the best price we can for cruising this time of year. We monitor the cruise pricing and flight pricing for the heck of it to see the fluctuations as our cruise date gets closer. For example in checking our cruise price today (our cruise departs in 7 days) our cruise is $1100.00 more (for the three of us) than what we paid and our flight out of Detroit, Michigan and return is over $1300.00 more (for the three of us) than what we paid. Our $2400.00 savings will pretty much cover our boat gas for 2015. :)

Mike.
