I'm trying, I'm bugging the sales man about the contract it's under. I was like dude, I'll give u deposit right now, come saturday with cash. Make it happen. He got all excited and was like let me make calls I'll call u back.

The cabin is small but should work for my needs of stabbin and maybe an overnight once a month.

Dealer sold the stingray. That's okay, it was smallllllll

He called to say he got this today. Oh hell no. I hate that regal styling.
http://treasure.craigslist.org/boa/3180346186.html

The search continues. It's so hard to find a boat and most people don't understand. They think all boats are the same and "why don't you just buy this?" mentality. I have to tell people it's like if you wanted a Mercedes Benz 2 door coupe, it's not the same as a Honda Civic 2 door coupe. Just cause they are the same length and 2 doors, they are two totally different cars.

I would say you are only partially correct when you say "It's so hard to find a boat" It's hard for YOU to find the perfect cuddy cabin boat in Florida. Obviously not the state that has an abundance of "oven like" cuddy cabins. Simply because it is too damn hot and humid down there to get any real use out of such a boat without A/C. Thus, they are in limited supply in your area.

If you REALLY want a cuddy cabin boat now, you should expand your thinking and consider a boat out of state. Like a freshwater boat, in the north where they are in greater supply. You can have it shipped to you for under $2K. Dealer can arrange that. If negotiated properly, it can even be worked into the sale price of the boat. Earlier in this discussion, captkevin linked , what I feel, is the perfect boat for you.
Here it is again. 350Mag,Low hours, captains choice corsa exhaust, and a dual axle trailer. Price listed is just that, listed price, and I bet you could talk him down.
Spend $500 for airfare to look at the boat, $2K or less to have it shipped, and maybe $16K for the boat. Total is close to your budgeted amount. Then you have what you are looking for. Just something to think about. This is a nice looking boat. I would even call it sexy.

Or if you are really in no hurry to get a boat , just wait it out until you find what you want in Florida. It make take days, weeks, or months. It's impossible to predict.

Nice looking Monty, I'm sure you can get a cheap flight into O'Hare. Probably could find 10 boats to look at as long as your coming up this way.

Yeah that sucks. I'd buy that boat today. I just don't like out of state deals, I need to see it with my own two eyes. Like that other Monty, if I just went by description and pictures I would have been freaking having a heart attack when it arrived. I also can't be blowing hundreds in plane tickets either.

I search the whole state of FL, I can get virtually anywhere being in Orlando within 3ish hours each way. I need to hug it, kiss it, sea trial it. The boat will come around, in the spring when I was just starting to keep an eye out there was 2-3 2003/2004 Sundowners in the 17k range. It's just summer and school's still out. Come fall they'll start appearing forsale.

Your logic is sound, but boats do pop up here, and the prices are generally cheaper then up north. That boat might be 18,500 at my door... but waited out long enough I can find something 2-3 years newer for that price here. That boat here would be 15-16 tops. Like I said, when I wasn't ready to purchase there was two 2003 Sundowners in minty cond. with all canvas for 17-18. I missed out on a 2004 Monty 228 for 17500 with 5.7 DP cause I wasn't looking for one at the time...by a week. I missed out on that 2009 Stingray by a day. It would have been more useful locally but I know the size would piss me off (but I could have flipped it in spring for what I paid or more). So, they're out there and the prices are in my budget... but now that I'm actively looking trying to give someone my money nothing is appearing. I'm looking for FW, montys, and chaps. I almost want to wait out for another 228 Monty. Biggest cabin in the 22ft range and the sexiest looking. 4 people can pay poker in there without rubbing elbows or kinking their necks and me being almost 6'2 can stretch out laying down. The 205 SD's cabin is small but has the best cockpit layout I've seen in a boat this size and is the only boat that can sleep 4 comfortably (two outside with the fill in). I'm pretty sure the monty COULD sleep 4 if you had a custom camper canvas made.

The irony of Ric buying a boat suggested by Capt is kinda funny

Agree with your point about the cockpit - it's what sold me on mine. But 4 people comfortably in a 205? Two of those 4 would have to be pretty small, or unless they're under 10 yrs, I'd guess they won't be comfortable. I've had 3 overnight in mine, and the third person vows never again!

You need to take Cap'n Morgan's and your wife's, I mean girlfriend's, advice and buy a cruiser with a gen and AC. The cost of a cruiser may be more than what you are wanting to spend right now but this is the time to buy due to the worthless economy. You know good and well that if you buy a cuddy, you will want a cruiser in two or three years from now. Get the cruiser and join that club you told us about. That place is awesome and can only be enjoyed if you have an overnighter (with AC).

That is a great looking boat Cap'n I did exactly what you advised, I purchased my boat off of ebay from a dealer in North Carolina, put 500 dollars on it contingent on it passing the sea trail and marine survey and drove up and was presently surprised as to how much more boat I was getting up north compared to the one I had a deposit on in Miami. +1 on widening your search area I am glad I did. The shipping was not that expensive I paid 800 dollars from Mooresville North Carolina to Miami the only problem with the boat when it got here was the carpet in the stern ripped up and tore itself up a bit but I removed all the carpet anyway. There is a shipping site that I used to get a bid on my boat being shipped the lowest bid was 800 dollars I showed it to the dealer and they matched the bid. Uship is the site which saved me money on shipment even if I didn't use them. Good luck ric we are all rooting for you! 8)

Nope - don't have one, in fact didn't know they existed for a cockpit. Tried to google and see if I could find a picture, but no luck. Does Four Winns sell them or are they aftermarket?
