I have no idea what dealership he is trying to work with but it sure sounds like Skipper Buds!

I know what you mean. It is not Skipper Buds, thankfully.

Looks like all is well now. Sea trial tomorrow morning, paperwork signing after that, then we will tow the new boat home !
First boating we have done in Michigan in March. Can't wait :!: :D

Congrats!

Question... What benefits do you see in loosing the cabin feature and owning a bow rider? A cuddy/cabin boat is what I dream about owning, so maybe I'm missing out on something and should be happy with what I already have.

We started our boating 18 years ago with a 20ft. cuddy. Loved it. Then gradually moved to the 268 Vista and then the 282 CR. We enjoyed all 3 of our boats. We just have decided to go back to a trailer boat, so we can travel with it.
The biggest benefit in downsizing for us is cost. No more slip fees, no more large winter storage fees, and much less maintenance costs.

But you will never know if a cuddy is right for you, uless you buy one. That Crownline cuddy you are eyeing up would be perfect for you.

Cruiser to a bowrider for us was because of family. When it was just my wife and I...spending the weekend on a cruiser was awesome. When kids came along (now 5 and twins at almost 3) we found that using the boat for the day and sleeping in our home beds was much more enjoyable as well as much easier to manage. On top of that...having kids our age at a marina is a nightmare. Not saying we would not move back into a cruiser in a few years. But a cottage on a lake is probably the direction we will be going instead.

I've been eyeing the 2003-2005 205/225 Sundowner (both same resale price of 18-22k) because I like their wrap around seating the best. The problem is here in Florida I can't find any forsale to even just walk around in. Chances are that I will be buying one and shipping it here without ever stepping foot in one first, kinda scary.

I'm glad we cancelled the sea trial for today, it's 34 degrees and raining. Tomorrow will be upper 50's and sunny. Much better.

First boat was a FW 205 Sundowner...great boat. Wife and I spent two weeks in the North Channel on that boat. Primitive...kind of like camping I guess. Still probably the best vacation I have ever taken. For the two of us it was a great boat. of course when we returned...we put it up for sale and bought a cruiser right away

Hey Cap'n - That's good news with your deal moving forward. Have fun on the sea trial and congrats again.

Mike.

Congrats on the new boat. What lake is the sea trial? I'm considering taking mine out either tomorrow or Sunday. I think the weather will decide where....Lake Mich (Holland) or Green Lake.

Sea Trial is on Gull Lake. It's really just a new boat orientation that the dealer does with every new boat. But I certainly want to make sure everything works as it should, even on a new boat. We may be out on Muskegon lake Sunday and Monday, if it's a bit chilly, we will probably pop into Bear Lake for a ride, and stop at the Bear Lake Inn for a burger and beverage...... or two.

Congratulations to the Morgans!
I am happy things worked out. I know buying a boat can be a trying experience, or it certainly was way back when. I am looking at a job on Gull Lake tomorrow, what time should I be at the dock? Dan

I was/am considering Muskegon as well for Sunday. I just hate paying the $10 launch fee there when it's free with the passport at the DNR ramps. But, no matter how nasty the big lake is, Muskegon and Bear Lake will still be nice and calm.
