Some help here team.

Brand new boat and i'm kinda of a newbie... been on boats my whole life but never owned my own..

38 hours on the boat now changed the oil two weeks ago at 25 for the break in oil change.

today we were boating for about an hour. we shut down for half hour to swim then started back up and the alarm was sounding oil pressure reading 40... I checked the oil and it was fine on the dip stick and it wasn't over heating... So i started driving it and the oil pressure came up to 60 and the alarm went off.

This was the case the rest of the day. no alarm when driving but every start up or idle (after a couple min) the alarm would sound and shut off when we start driving...

ideas??

What viscosity oil have you just used?

Look in your Merc engine manual and see what things it monitors. I have a stone age boat, my eyes, nose and ears are the monitors!
BTW all kidding aside, those alarms are a good idea but they can be troublesome.

Oil press sounds OK. The Drive Fluid IS linked to the alarm, make sure that's right, as that is the only one I have ever had alarm on me. Also, open the cap and make sure it's not at pressure/vacuum when checking as I've noticed mine not venting. I'm fairly certain the only alarms are Drive fluid low, Low oil press, and high cooling temp.

All good ideas i need to top up the drive lube see if that helps... by the dash it says alarm sounds for low oil pressure and high engine temp.... hopefully the drive lube is also connected and that's all it is i'll take alook in my book.

I am pretty sure you had the same issue that I have had. I have a '12 H210SS, and after about 17 hours on the clock, we started to get a warning horn (buzzer) about 1-2 minutes after starting up after a swim. I checked things out but could not find the issue. Not engine oil or excess heat. The marina service department said that it was low drive oil, but was not a real problem as the oil in the drive was up, and there was oil in the tube. The problem was that the reservoir was down, and the float or low indicator was triggered. Of course, my only question to the dealer was "Why was the drive oil reservoir low on a newly delivered boat. Of course, no answer!
Check yours out.

According to my book this is likely the cause. Didn't realize it was hooked to an alarm i knew it was down but its not down much past the add line... The book does mention that during break in can use drive lube and you may need to add as much as 16 ounces in 20hours. why yours went off at 17 hours and mine at 38 i dunno... thanks for all the reply's... i will top mine up and report back wont get a chance to get on the water till this weekend.

The only reason other than leaks, why the drive level will go down is trapped air escaping. I'd keep an eye on it and if you have to keep adding drive fluid take it back in. I can see that it might drop a bit after the first 20 hrs but not after that, all the trapped air should be out.

If that is a Bravo 3 drive they are known to have some very slow seepage leaks from time to time. I've not had the issue myself but I know of others who have. Merc's solution: just add fluid as needed.

Mine has the Bravo III, so maybe that was my issue. I have to wonder where the lube is going? I did not see any signs of oil on the water at any time, nor is there any oily film on the lower unit. Maybe the good news is that it finally filled the air spaces? :?:

So we were able to get out to the lake last night (went wake to wake for the first time on a wakeboard!! so pumped) and was able to fix the alarm.

It was the drive lube after all... didn't have to add much maybe 5 ounces and it fixed the problem as many of you guys had said was likely the issue. thanks for all your help!!
