On Saturday, the wifey was doing the dishes when she told me the drain wasn't draining. My Attwood sump was new on August 15 last year. I had a look and sure enough it was full and not pumping. I gave it a tap and it started pumping, then shut off like normal. The drain emptied the sink but the pump wouldn't start again without tapping it. I opened it up and pulled out the pump to have a look see. The float was very heavy and upon shaking it could hear water inside. No visible damage to the float, so I figured the seam wasn't sealed. I drilled a small hole to empty it and then siliconed it up to have us operational for the weekend, knowing fully that Attwood would now deny any warranty claim cuz of my drilling. I called down to Michigan today to see if they could help me out. I explained everything in great detail to the rep (Dave) and he told me they couldn't warranty it cuz of my drilling. He said otherwise, just ship it to them and they'd replace it no problemo. He then said since it sounded defective from the start and that I did the prudent thing, he'd would ship me a new one anyway. He even upgraded it from a 500 GPH to a 750. I asked him what he needed from me ie: purchase info etc. He said nothing, just my mailing info. I then asked if I could give them some more of my business cuz I was so happy but he told me they are not retailers there. He asked me what I needed and I told him my 3 tank vent fittings were getting kind of tired looking. He asked me what type they were and I told him. He said, not a problem and he'd include them with my new upgraded pump. All of this and NO CHARGE!!!

Somebody get me some bloody oxygen  ! He even spoke english lmao

This my friends is customer service beyond compare. When I get the shipment, I will send a letter of praise to Attwood with all the details since now adays, everyone seems to bitch people out for crappy service but fails to praise the good service. I will now go out of my way to buy Attwood products for my own needs and my customers needs as well. Only one problem now; Canada Customs is gonna hoop me,,,,break out the Vaseline :(

Yup. Attwood is awesome. All their sales are generally to OEMs so in the rare case someone does actually call them they're glad to help. I emailed em about how my new LED all around anchor light flew out and swam with the fishes cause the friction ring kept going loose. 3 days later there was a new 42" LED anchor light pole at my door step. No questions asked.

It arrived today as promised :P

No duty to be paid at customs since he marked on the shipping label $0.00 and listed it as a gift.

He included his business card and I'm glad he did so I can name him in my letter of praise to Attwood.

Attwood (like a lot of manufacturers) does not sell direct to public, but they have excellent customer service for consumers who purchase their products from dealers/companies/websites, etc.

I have had the same experience with Attwood re my sump recently. Installed a new one last year and religiously cleaned it but it too developed the "tap on it and I will pump" syndrome. But of course only after flooding my clean mid bilge. Sent an email and later that week I had a brand new pump which has worked flawlessly since. :D

They make a ton of money selling to OEMs... what's a free light or pump to the .00001% of their customers that actually call them? That $3 light/pump now has their customers singing praises to hundreds, if not thousands on forums.

Oh, and now Attwood sells through Walmart online. Cheapest prices for their products on the net.

Sorry to dig up my old topic guys. I did e-mail that letter of praise to Attwood. Just the other day, I recieved an e-mail from them wanting me to take part in a customer product rating program.

I wont post any details yet since they're still working on it. At this point though, it sounds great.

I have always had very good luck with there products. I too had to put in a new shower sump last week. It worked great on their part. To bad that the other problem is that the hose or fitting is broken under the shower. I don't know how the heck I am going to fix that one.
Oh, I replaced the Rule that was in there by the way.
