Caln the fuel injection from this me put on a 4.3 marine. Can this motor have the marine components put on it. I didn't know if it was to computer controlled for marine applications

Yes you can use the car engine in a boat, it's the same engine just different things bolted around it.

The ECU/harness is totally different from the GM MEFI4 and the gains from EFI to a good carb in a boat is questionable (not the 2bbl VP/MC sticks on). Fuel injection is great for the dynamics of stop and go traffic but in the marine world a carb (and carbs in general) when tuned right are just as efficient and usually work better at higher RPMs. Could you adapt a automotive ECU to work in a boat? Yes you can but you'll need the ECU wiring diagram and know what you're doing.

The easiest route is to just convert it to a carburetor (pick up a edelbrock intake and holley marine carb).

I was thinking of building it for a future drop in. Now I am correct that all the 4.3 bolt patterns are the same correct. I have the omc cobra out drive.

Old/new 4.3 same block. They changed the intake manifolds on the vortec heads but the exhaust side is still the same bolt pattern.

I agree with ric, there are marine EFI systems that can be installed on engines that did not have them in the first place, but compared to using a simple carb and mechanical fuel pump, that is a lot of expense for not much payback. Plus, if something goes wrong with a carbed boat motor it is far simpler to repair. Bolt on a new carb set it up and go. No ECUs, IAC, TPS, etc. Keep in mind, if you don't use a points distributor (like the OE Prestolite used in the OMCs) the OMC Electronic Shift Assist (ESA) will not work, unless you wire it to work like a Mercruiser which was set up different from OMC. You can use the Delco EST but it has to be wired differently than the OE set up on the Cobra. I still used the points distributor because it works fine and is easy to maintain.

So if I'm going to build a new motor would I be better off using the 2000 4.3 or the 95. Also isn't the 2000 aluminum. Does that matter
