2000 FW Horizon 170 w 115 HP OB Johnson (approx 250 hrs), mooring cover, bimini, trailer. Owner asking $8600 which seems on high side, but boat looks very clean and owner said he has all records and paperwork. Any advice on this model/motor combo. Looking at this size boat (17-18), tubing, possible water skiing (as kids get more involved), general cruising around on weekends. Any advice - have rented the 2007 180 with 3.0 VP and it was fine for the day I'm just worried about power of the OB being enough as kids get bigger (10 and 13 now). Tried to find the spec sheet on the FW site but got the old 404 file not found - anyone have the specs on this model??? Thanks |

That's a $6000 boat, in mint condition. An H170 is also for 2-3 people tops. If you're a family of 4 and plan to be doing water sports as the kids get a bit older you'll want at least an H180 with a 4.3, minimum 190hp. No 3.0, ever. |

I had a 1997 horizon qx. Basically the same boat you are looking at and it has pleanty of power for skiing and tubing. I personally like the outboards as the 2 stroke engines are light weight and have a great out of the hole power band. IMO get the h180 outboard with the 150 or I/O with at least a 4.3 in it. As ric says the 3.0 just doesn't cut it. As for the price it's way to expensive, maybe 6k or 6.5 in excellent condition. Good luck in your search. |
