While on the hook in the cove at Copake Lake, NY, the admiral and I were taking a siesta, when I heard a LOUD engine rev to the port side. After getting my bearings I realize the engine is a sea plane that had landed on the lake and was taxiing to his ramp onto his lakefront property. I finally found the camera and snapped a few quick photos (one through the plastic pilot house window), before the plane disappeared on land. It was a chilly day, and we were the only boat in the cove. (My camper canvas keeps it warm) Wondering how rare it is to share the water with an airplane.

Very cool, we had one doing "touch and go's" here on the Niagara River last month, he buzzed around us a couple of times in between landings...

I bet those are cheap:-) you think they camp out at their estate or stay in their one room cabin. WOW

Sea planes are pretty common in areas with alot of water and mountains. We do alot of boating in the Adirondack Mts. and see them all the time. They will normaly do a fly-by to let you know that they are coming in for a landing. As Lou C. said it looks like Grumman. That's a little unusal, most of what we see are the small Piper's with pontoons.

Whats up there Monkey Business?! Long time no see.

I have a friend with a sea plane that I work on now and again for him. I also know the Paynes pretty well up in the mountains...all floats but nothing like a sea plane ride for the sights.

Looked like this (Grumman Goose)? Many are still in use and have been updated to modern power plants....

I have one more photo of it, but it's a little blurry. Looks like the Grumman in the link.

See a lot of sea planes on lake Norman NC, several homes have ramps for them.

Thats the one, if he is out there when you pass by you should stop and talk to him, real real nice guy. That 46 mainship on Cooper's dock is also his.

Here is a nice Cessna on floats (I think it is a C206). Lake Osbourne, Lantana FL. This lake and surrounding park is in the middle of the city.

That's a great photo! The plane owner is a recluse who doesn't really socialize. He owns a few planes and takes off and lands fro his private strip that is completely obscured by trees. Rarely, he lands on the water and taxis to his ramp. I have been at this lake for 10 years and have seen him land only twice. To be in the boat on the water with him driving by was an incredible experience. Wish I would have got as nice a photo as you did though.
