I have these star shaped things in a small section of the boat, is this what crazing is?

Do those wipe off?

Did you see them when you waxed it? Have you buffed it with any sort of compound to try and get them off?

Yes, that is exactly what crazing is.

I saw them when I waxed. They don't wipe off, they are in the gelcoat. The surface of the gelcoat is smooth

BS....its not too thin for the load and that's simply an ignorant thing to say with the only purpose being to cause someone to worry about nothing.....Ric, don't even go there - you are no boat designer.

All boats flex or they will break apart....the Queen Mary flexes as does an Aircraft Carrier....it's cosmetic and nothing to worry about....it has no structural affect on the boat whatsoever and for that reason isn't even covered under warranty (it states this in the manual). When the boat flexes (as all do) it causes minor cracks in the underneath layer of the gelcoat - essentially under the clear......you are not even touching them when you wax or buff.....if you look hard enough you will probably see some sort of this on a majority of boats....with a colored hull it is more visible than plain white though.

I probably have them on mine - i learned to not look for such things though:)

I'm not convinced it is "crazing" in the traditional sense.

Crazing by definition is small hairline cracks in the gel coat. These don't appear to be cracks. Also, typically gel coat does not have a "clear coat" it is typically all pigmented.

It does appear to be a defect in the gel coat. Either that or something has attacked the gel coat and discolored it.

Where on the boat is this? Above or below the water line?

Above the waterline, thats the trailering cover just above the area. Its right where the curve starts for the bow

Regardless of what you call it, it's a defect or stress related issue in the gel coat. Only cosmetic and has no structural ramifications. If it really bothers you, you should be able to get it fixed under warranty. Likely the fix will be several progressive grades of sanding, then buffing, polish and wax to remove them. You should not have to add any gelcoat to the area.

It doesn't bother me, I just didn't know what it was, found it when I was doing my Ralph Machio impression, wax on , wax off

Cool, it would not bother me either. It's a boat, not a museum piece. Still a beautiful boat you have there !

My new motto.... Thanks cap'n. I love it. And most of all my wife loves it.
