While this is nothing compared to what the east coast is getting, our little lake is going to be a little rough as well as this is the other side of the storm. We don't have any subways to worry about nor the tidal surge, but for a lake this is out of the ordinary. Be safe..... http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/LM/043.html Small Craft Advisory in effect until noon EDT today Gale Warning in effect from noon EDT today through Wednesday afternoon New Buffalo Mi To St Joseph Mi- Today North wind to 30 knots. It's bad here....winds are gusting to 50 mph and a tidal surge of 6-11 feet. That will put a number of streets under water. And the storm is still 200 miles away.... |

Sorry, too lazy to drag out the threads from 2009, 2010 and 2011 of the big waves. For those that are boating on the big lake regularly for their first time this past season, this is something new for them to witness. |

Yup I heard 25 footers for south lake MI. Pretty much normal for November. Better now than in July. ![]() |

Here is the wave height forecast for the southern part of Lake Huron. Tonight North gales to 45 knots. Storm force gusts to 55 knots. Rain. Waves 25 to 30 feet. Maximum wave height around 36 feet. Tuesday North gales to 40 knots with storm force gusts to 55 knots...diminishing to 30 knots with gusts to 45 knot gales late. Rain. Waves 25 to 30 feet...subsiding to 15 to 20 feet late. Maximum wave height around 37 feet. A Gale Warning may be needed. Those are some wave heights us recreational boater types want to stay the heck away from! I talked with my wife this morning about taking a drive to Grand Bend after work to view the waves, but we'd arrive about sunset so probably not much point. Mike. |

The only thing holding it was the electric and water lines. ![]() curious to see if it happens again tonite. |
