For over ten years I use to visit another boating discussion website nearly every day. In the past few years the postings and comments on that site have became progressively more hatefully political. The moderators allowed extreme and degrading political comments to become commonplace in boating discussions. Some members took this as an opportunity to use the site to advance their particular political views by posting inflammatory editorials on topics that were only very thinly related to recreational boating. I have permanently given up on that site (and the site's sponsors) and will let them slash and burn among themselves.

The simple truth is that when talking to other boaters on the water, at the dock, or on a website I am only interested in sharing the fun and challenges of boating. Boating is what we do to take us away from everyday life. Adding discussions of politics only contaminates the boating experience we all share.

The moderators of this site deserve a big thank you for keeping this site about boating and only boating.
