Expect at least 2-3 more of these in the upcoming years until I finally land in a 278+ Vista. Okay. 2003 Chaparral 215ss. Needs: -Fluid changes -3 seat panels recovered -Impeller I'm sure -Batteries are worn out Wants: -22in 12v HDTV/DVD combo in cabin (amazon) -Stereo upgrade. I'm going to try Infinity 612M speakers this time. Not sure on head unit. Needs bluetooth audio that's all I care about. If I get a powerful enough one I won't have to run an amp like on the stingray. Jury is out on the subwoofer, not sure. It's nice but I had it turned off most of the time to conserve battery. -Marinaire Micra AC. Smallest, cheapest, lowest power consuming reverse cycle marine AC on the market. 500w running, 650 starting. I will start this project after the boat is 100% with the "needs" and the TV/stereo are installed. Will run off a 1000w sinewave inverter and two 6v golf cart batteries (225ah). 50ah running consumption with inverter overhead. Not sure on how to charge it, no shore power. Maybe upgraded alternator. Installed in the cabin in a custom enclosure I make on the starboard side back wall on the cuddy "seat". The top will be a mini bar and the TV will go on the back wall above it. Kinda like how Monterey puts a little bar/table there. Estimated run time just cabin is 6+ hours. Cabin/cockpit with camper top? Maybe 2-3. Our dock has 120v power for lighting and has an outlet I'll ask if I can use it. If so I'll just install a shorepower plug on the hull to a charger or charger/inverter combo. Problem solved. -LED lighting of course -Epoxy barrier coat under the waterline. I plan to keep this one at least 1-2 years and I have to store it's huge trailer offsite. -Install opening/screened portholes in the cuddy like 2004+ models. -portable grill -Removable tables inside/out That's it! Done this a few times now and I'm pretty good at it. The Chap comes pretty decked out already so no little crap needed. It has a 56 gallon fuel tank that came topped off. 35 gallons in the Stingray lasted 2 months and at cruise the Chap eats only 2 more GPH's (8 instead of 6). I don't estimate needing gas for a few months. |

Went to Joann just to scope it out, they have it 100% polyester for $12.99 a yard. Should give the boat a nice modern look inside and feel as comfortable as my living room sofa Looking at this radio http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX597 ... -X597.html I had a lower model kenwood in my H180 and it sounded A LOT better then the JVC I put in the Stingray. It didn't need an amp like the JVC with the 651's. Amazon has the Infinity Reference 612m for $65 a pair. |

The 612M's will be a nice match with the blue cones, and will sound as good or better than the DB651's. Kenwood is fine, but just buy a Fusion and be done with it. You likely will not NEED an amp with this set up. |

I have the 651's in my boat and my buddy has the 612's. You will be happy with the sound from either. The 612's look amazing with the chrome and the blue cones. Should look great on your new boat. |

Fusion doesn't have bluetooth. That's uncivilized. I don't know what I'd do without my bluetooth audio streaming, and alert of call/txt over the boat's stereo speakers with handsfree talking. |

Ordered a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X597 and four Infinity Reference 612m speakers. Apparently 12v TV's doubled in price so I'm holding off until I build the 120v system for the AC. HHGreg had some today in the 22-24in range for under $150. a 22-24in 12V is now around $250. Once the seats are done (inside and out) in the next week or 2, I'll start the AC project headed by a Xantrex PROwatt SW 1000. |
