Does anyone here have a system installed. I am putting one on the boat, but getting the right GSM package seems to be the hard part. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Right now the one from Cobra is looking good.

Yep, I use the GS+G system.... (2 German Shephards + a Glock). Sorry, I know that doesn't help ya out, but I couldn't resist. I trailer, so my boat is always safe and secure at my house.

No need here for security system either. It's just a boat, that is what insurance is for. Maybe if I had a 63ft. Neptunus I might consider it, certainly not for a 20ft.bowrider.

Yea, we don't worry about security in our slips here either. We all pretty well know each other, and are able to call one another if we need something looked at and aren't there and they are, or inform someone else of some issue with their boat, and in my boats case, someone would have to crawl under my cover to get in, and everyone down there on our docks, pretty well knows who should and shouldn't be on other peoples boats. Then, beyond that, our docks have 24 hr video surveillance, so someone would get seen that way too as a last resort, and then you have insurance if all else fails.. End of the season last year, I had to chase some goofballs off of a dock neighbors boat. They obviously didn't belong down there, were drunk, and were climbing on numerous boats and getting pictures taken. They weren't necessarily hurting anything, but they didn't belong, or know the people who's boats they were climbing on. She got pretty irate with me when I chased her off, and her friends seemed quite embarrassed at that point too, but she was down right belligerent with me, and wasn't going to leave, until I advised her I was on the phone to the Sheriffs office. At which point, they immediately departed, of course her hanging out the window of the car, giving me the ole' middle finger salute....

We installed Siren about a year ago. Don't really use it as a "security" system but it does have that option. We use it to monitor shore power, battery level, bilge pump and cabin temp. We are able to turn on our AC and cool the boat down before we arrive. There is a simple geo fence to monitor if the boat moves when we are not around.

Works well, easy to install, simple to program.

Very cool jnizi, I am ready to order the Cobra C-Pod for mine. It has the added benefit of GPS as well for tracking. After our drive got stolen and the insurance does not want to pay squat in comparison to the 22k I lost, I thought we better put something on it.

The siren does have GPS and a nice google link to show you where your boat is sitting. Good luck with the Cobra, please let us know how it works. Its a shame insurance companies are so difficult to deal with.

If willing, can you add more detail: What insurance company, and how unfair of a deal?
