Just stopping by for a quick NEWS update, than back to hiding.
Chaparral announced Tuesday they were getting into the jet boat market. Both PE and Chap will
be using the BRP engines, since SeaDoo is out of the sport boat business. This will make at least
5/6 builders offering Jet drive boats next year. Today there is one, Yamaha. Next year you will have
Yamaha,Chaparral,Bayliner,Scarab,Glastron and Sea Ray. I suspect you will have a couple more builders jump on the
bandwagon as well.

Rec Boat Holdings will enter jetboat market

Quote:
Rec Boat Holdings, builder of the Four Winns, Glastron and Wellcraft brands, today announced its entry into the jetboat segment, relaunching the Scarab brand as a jetboat line and adding two new jet models in the Glastron line.
The new boats from Rec Holdings are scheduled to roll out as soon as this summer. A long-term supply agreement with BRP's Marine Propulsion Systems division enables the company to power the new boats with its quality Rotax 4-TEC 1503 jet propulsion system.
“The Scarab launch and entrance into the jet segment is the next evolution for the company and is part of the overall business plan of expansion and investment in the marine segment,” Rec Boat Holdings president Roch Lambert said in a statement.

Later.....

Yup. Over on the chap forums they are swearing left and right over the thought of the most unreliable horrible crap being installed in their brand.

Being a Yamaha Jet Boat dealer as well... this makes me laugh.... if Sea-Doo couldn't compete, and Sea Ray keeps delaying their jet boat with german motors... I can't see this being any competition either.. bring it on I say! hahaha!

That Supercharged 3 cylinder is rated at 255hp. A pair of these in a small sport boat should be crazy fast... and use a lot of gas too.

I love jet boats, they vacuum the weeds out of my lake.

I can see insurance premiums sky-rocketing with amateurs binning these jet boats while docking...

That's exactly what's in my Seadoo. Damn thing is wicked fast. I think it uses as much fuel as my Vista. Once my boys visit the lake and take out the ski it's always empty. Sometimes they'll will stop at the gas dock on the way back and fill it up for me and put it on my slip account. They're thoughtful that way, always thinking of Dad. :-)
