The boat has sat for a couple of weeks, and the drive is slowly lowering. I can't see any signs of fluid leaking, so my guess is its the checkvalve in the pump. Anyone know what they normally go for? |

Anyone know what they normally go for? How's the fluid level in the pump? Have seen that happen as well when you get a little low on oil in the reservoir. Fixed my problem, and I have no visible leaks in my system either.. |

Anyone know what they normally go for? There is a seal around the piston head inside the trim cylinders. If this seal leaks inside either piston, they will both go down since they are connected in parallel. Since it is leaking from one side of the piston to the other side (internally), there is no external leakage. While the problem could also be in the pump/valve assy, I would suspect the piston seal first. I think it is a standard o-ring, and not hard to rebuild those cylinders yourself if you can get (or make) a spanner wrench to open the end. Update: Looking at how new your boat is, then piston seal is not too likely. Hopefully it is just low oil level. |

I had this happen to me over the winter. I had a post in the Horizon thread about it. Surprisingly after my post I found out the same thing happen to my brother and he had asked the tech at the marina about it. He was told it happens often because all it takes is a small particle of dirt or whatever in the check valve for it to happen. I brought mine up three weeks or so ago and it's been fine ever since so you might not really have a problem. |

My 95 190 Horizon did that occasionally or rarely in the first few years. It was never predictable enough to troubleshoot. Eventually it quit acting up and I never did take it apart. Based on that I would make sure it is consistent before tearing it apart. |

Mine is relatively new and it sometimes drifts too but not consistantly. Sometimes it may lower a little after a few weeks, other times not at all. Its not leaking and the fluid level is good so I don't worry about it... it doesn't effect me using the boat and I use trailering clips when I tow just in case of failure. I generally keep the drive in the lowered position just of the ground anyway when its parked. |
