I have a quick question for guys who have ordered replacement parts using the part number in the four winns catalog for your boat model and year. Do you always get the exact replacement for the boat you had or is it normal to get a different model of the same type of part.

I recently ordered a few items through my local four winns dealer and one of them was the bathroom shower head. When I purchased the boat last year the shower head wasn't working, so I purchased a newer shower head off of amazon, and it worked fine, but it won't stay in the wall mount really. The wall mount that the original shower head came with was very secure so I decided to just order one from four winns. Well the order came last week, and the shower head they sent is not the same as the original one that came with the boat, but much more like the one I purchased off of amazon and doesn't look as if it will likely stay in the provided wall mount. Ok ... maybe not so quick of a question after all, lol.

Depends on the age of your boat. Four Winn's isn't in the business of making shower heads or anything like that. They buy that stuff from supply houses like Atwood. If there isn't "new old stock" on the shelves you're going to get the modern equivalent.

Just install a new wall mount?

Yeah I can see your point, I was just a little surprised because if you look at the four winns parts catalog it actually shows a photo of the part and that is the one I wanted. As far as installing a new mount, the problem is hard to describe. The old shower head mount had a sort of hook on it, and the shower head had a recepticle that fit snugly on and would keep it firmly in place. The one I bought on amazon and got from four winns are a different setup. They basically have the base of the shower head sit in the mount and the shower head falls out and bangs around inside the head fairly easily.

I'm sure I can find a way of setting it up to work around this, and I realize that if this is my biggest problem I encounter all season I will be a very happy guy, but was more curious if this is normal for going forward ordering more parts in the future if I'm looking for a very specific replacement.

Well depending on the year of your boat... If you have a 90s vessel very rarely will you get a replacement part from the 90s. You're going to get its modern design that cross references. The only sure fire way to get old parts that you want is to find out who made it and hit up eBay

Contact the vendor of the fixture itself. I got a replacement mixer cartridge for ours after it cracked due to the dealer's poor winterizing. I think ours was made by Shur-Flo. Their support department was great.
