Check for my earlier post regarding the weed problem. Here's the update:

FW warranty rep agreed to pay for replacement thru-hulls (that have a larger, finer screen) and the haul out but not the labor. I balked because I felt this was an OE issue and the boat is under warranty. Thw FW rep acquiesced and the factory is picking up the labor as well. Naturally, I was very pleased that the factory is picking up the tab.

One ominous note from the service manager, though. The service manager and I were discussing "what ifs" as in what if this doesn't work. He said "well, with these new screens you should just be able to cut the engines and the weeds should fall off." Anybody want to place bets on that?

Btw, the SM said my boat is the only 348 in the country with this problem. I'm skeptical but then again no one here indicated a similar problem.

Will update on Monday.

Good luck and I hope all works out good! At least for now no major money out of your pocket. How long will your boat be out of commision?

troy: SM said boat will ready tomorrow PM. let's hope he's right. You know how those "unforseen problems" can crop up.
