So, many of you know that I had to order a replacement engine hatch for my 248 Vista. The wooden core had rotted out so I had to go thru Four Winns for a replacement. When working with the nearest Four Winns dealer (80 miles away) and the factory to get the right part numbers. I placed my order to have it shipped to my house instead of to the dealership (80 miles away). Well, $946 later (I did order some replacement control cables as well), the hatch showed up. Real pretty....BUT, none of the template holes for the table mount, hatch latches or latch pull were cut out. It also didn't arrive with the noise reducing foam....Wouldn't be a big deal, IF I WAS PREPARED FOR THAT! I was informed by the dealership, the only drilling required would be the drilling for the screws and bolts to reinstall the hardware I pulled off of my old engine hatch. Well, needless to say, no one was around (dealership or factory) to answer my calls. I can only suspect that since Memorial Day Weekend has past, that Four Winns and Horizon Marine Group in Toms River NJ must think shit doesn't happen after 4:30 pm. Yes, I did speak with the dealership prior to the hatch being made (the whole month it took Four Winns to make it) and even followed up with emails reaffirming the point that all of the required holes would be pre-cut. Thanks for listening, don't have resolution yet....just needed to vent! Time for a beer and to put my feet up...although I wouldn't mind putting the foot up someone's ass! Sorry, tried my best to keep it "G rated." |

You're lucky. Now you can install them in the correct place unlike the FW monkeys |

I can see both positives and negatives to this. Put the holes where you want them, of course it is a PITA though. I'm sure your dealer can order that material...but I'd be pissed if I was expecting it to be on there and then it isn't....you spent a small fortune on that hatch! |

When I purchased the new motorhood for the rear jump seat modification on my Funship, I was delighted when I opened the crate and saw that there were no holes drilled anywhere........what I received was a blank canvas make fit exactly the way I wanted......it took me several days to get the hood to fit properly, I did a bunch of sanding and careful hole drilling......I know the factory workers cannot take than much time and I do not blame them for it..........but I sure could and I am 100% pleased with the results......... ![]() |

Update....The Factory called me back. They are making a new hatch cover and sending it to me, "the way it should have been done in the first place." Paul (service manager at FW) understood my frustration and is all over it to make it right. Original plan was to drive up to the closest FW dealer and have them take care of it. But the factory actually called me this morning (on my way to the dealership) with the fix. I'll be using the blank for my deck until the new one arrives. Big Sigh! ![]() |

Ric, they're doing it all to include new hardware minus the table mount. They're going to cut the table mount hole for me based on the measurements I'm going to send them tomorrow when I get down to the boat. The price included shipping and two control cables.... Bonus, I get to keep the extra (blank) hatch piece courtesy of FW! |

Next post: "four winns sent me a new engine hatch cover with the table mount in the wrong spot and the wrong mount to boot!" ![]() Does Four Winns by any chance sell and ship new deck?? I have a big soft spot around one of my hatches that was there when I bought it last year. Local fiberglass shop quoted $2,500 to fix it ![]() |

I'd give them a call. They have the molds and I suspect they can at least give you some advice. |

What did you end up paying for the new motor hood?
