I want to pull it and inspect it, or should I just change it every two years. I'd also like to keep a spare onboard. |

You should do all the above - replace the current (original), change it every 2 years, and keep a spare on board. ![]() It's inside of a housing down on the crankshaft, in front of the harmonic balancer. You have to remove a thick steel bracket, then 4 brass screws. |

Inside the raw water pump, front of engine, down low. Mine (5.0 Ford) is to the left as your looking at the engine. But, I think (not positive) that it is more towards the middle on a 5.7...one way to be sure, is to find the pump that has 2 hoses coming out the backside, one up and to the the T-Stat hosing, the other running back to the transom area. |

That's one of the things i'll have to do this summer. Dealer where the boat was stored insisted it's still good but it's an 09 with 65 bours on it. I have put much pressure for it to be checked and changed during winter but apparently it's still fine. I'll change it just for a piece of mind. Hard job? Things not to do while changing? |

Probably right behind the 'glass base for the rear seat . Hope the rocket scientists who design these boats made it removable. |

There's no guaranteed period of time for impellers. I've had some last years and others crap out in the same season. I would generally replace one that's been sitting for 'too long' without having been used. The rubber tends to set up and get brittle. Better to at least know it's OK so it's not one more thing to fail and leave you stranded. |

I change mine every year and it takes about 15 minutes. First time will take longer. I have the 268 and I stuff a rag under the gas tank in case I drop a screw, I won't lost it. Learned that lesson the hard way. |
