The Admiral just got a smart phone. It is an android and we were wondering what boating apps we can't live without. Free or cheap, cuz that's how I roll.

You might consider these apps for boating:
Marines and Lakes:USA (Navionics) for Android. This was $10 when I purchased it but I think it is a good value for what you get
Ulysse Speedometer or SpeedView (GPS Speedometers - both free)

weatherbug, the weather channel, for weather and radar.

Boatus, if your a member, which I see your just north of me, BoatUS is only good for Lake Powell..... If you boat Willard or Pineview, you only need the weather.

Waze, for driving to the lake (along with daily commuting)

The only radar app I use is Radar Alive Pro. It's what the professional storm chasers use. It updates off your local radar every 5 minutes. Weather.com and Accuweather are so inaccurate due to their editing/cleaning up it could be raining but nothing shows on their maps. Navionics seems to be the best (only) true marine navigation app. I have a real old version I found hacked off the web but it does the job perfectly for what I do (navigation in driving rain).

Thanks all! She is checking them out, as well as a word find (boring). I'll let ya know her favorites.
Haven't been to Powell yet this year, probably make a trip in the fall. Willard is really getting low and they still haven't opened the north marina from the diesel spill. Ever go to the Gorge?

I use Marine Weather Pro and like it. It gives you weather & tides.

Also, the Seatow app is not bad too.

I have been to the Gorge as a kid, and have floated from the dam down fly fishing. But to me, so far to travel and water is too cool for water sports..... Family has property at Bear lake so we do that for the 24 of July holiday. Here locally I enjoy Jordanelle since I work in Park City, and drive over within a few min.
