Hey all , I came home and started to work on tuning up the boat and found a couple issues. First off I noticed that my engine and carb had an oil on them or soemthing wet, I got to looking at this hose and it has a burt hole in it. It's attached to he back of the carb and goes down to the front of the motor and hooks up to some sort of pump, I think I will attach a pic an see what you think it is. Also I will be putting new plugs and wires , rotor , and new cap on as well. I will send pics of the plugs and see what I need to do as far as adjustment. They are filthy, black with some crud on them, They dont look like they have been changed in a few years. I will attach then once I get them all out of the boat.

Ok Image shack is being a pain in my butt right now, Its not letting me upload any photos. I will keep workin on on it.

Toddely, is it a clear plastic or yellowish plastic hose, or a black rubber hose? I am guessing that, because it is a carbed 5.7, that it is exactly what you are looking at.

The reason I ask is that if your engine has a mechanical fuel pump, and has this plastic style hose, then what you are looking at is a fuel pump overflow. It is meant to dump excess fuel back into the carb if you have a fuel pump diaphram failure. On a car, this overflow port just dumps extra fuel on the ground. In your boat, it dumps it back to the carb instead of into the bilge.

It is a big enough safety concern that it should be checked regularly for cracks, and replaced imediately if a break is found. Nothing worse than pouring gasoline onto your hot engine....

I need to replace this hose on my boat. The PN was 3854242 then replaced by 0909938 or L/P 18.58.

Can someone tell me the ID of the tube?

Just measure the nipple on the carb that the hose fits on, also has to be rated for fuel.
I'd also look into what damaged that hose...and did you see/smell any sign of gas the hose...if so you need to replace the fuel pump.

Its not so much damages (hole) as dirty. I am taking the whole carb apart to clean it and I tore the end when I tried to remove it from the carb. There is enough slack where I could cut it and reuse it but I would just rather replace it at this point. Not a place you want to get a failure.
