Introduced to International dealers today. August 4-6th to North American dealers.

New Horizon 290,
Quote:
The latest addition to the Four Winns brand is the all-new Horizon 290 bowrider. The 29-foot
luxury sport boat comes packed with features and amenities, providing a full day of on-water cruising with maximum comfort. The oversized bow area allows for plenty of lounging space featuring the Four Winns exclusive chaise lounge-style seating with adjustable headrests and integrated arm rests. Step into the cockpit through the custom-designed curved windshield and enjoy the roominess created through the unique high chine architecture; a signature on all Horizon models. A motorized captain’s seat, optional galley and L-shaped seating deliver plenty of comfort for a full day outing. A few steps below and you find a changing room and single berth, starboard – the perfect location for a quick- change when docked at the local restaurant. Beautiful wood finishes and a large side window that fills the area with natural light provide the elegance your neighbors will envy. The portside head with molded-in sink and storage underneath provides all the necessary amenities needed for the family. The aft area of the Horizon 290 is where all families will live and play. Featuring a Four Winns exclusive one-touch automatic sun lounge, along with low-profile swim platform, every day on the water is full of comfort. Four Winns signature Stable Vee® hull design delivers excellent ride performance and lasting family memories. Power options for the Horizon 290 are available in single engine and twin engine configurations.

In addition to the new Horizon 290, the recently introduced RS series expands into the larger models; the sporty look is now available in the 18′-26′ Horizon models and the Sundowner series. In addition to the vivid green, a new vivid blue offers consumers a choice in the aggressive and sporty RS color scheme introduced last year.

See Ya.......

Interesting... thanks Cap'n! You are missed around here.

A 290 with twins would be... fun.

Thanks Mike, a fan club of one is better than none

I like the blue rather than the green in the RS.

I would rock that blue RS scheme!

That new H290 is a rip off. Look at the overhead view. It's small. Comfortable seating for 6-7 people MAX. In a 29 foot bowrider? That's comfortable seating of a 22ft boat.
-Nearly 2.5ft of wasted space in the bow for I'm sure a windlass.
-3.5ft of swim platform that is counted as LOA

It really only has the space of a 23ft boat, which holds true to it's available seating. My neighbor Regal 2120 Destiny has the same identical layout and cockpit size, and it's on paper 8ft smaller.

It's old news now that new boats don't have the floor space that they used to. Comparing new bow riders with those of 9 or more years ago is an invalid comparison in many ways. Two different worlds. Not saying one is better than the other - I think they're all going a bit overboard with the amount of seating, but that's what the market wants, or at least the manufacturers believe so.

I think a 290 could be a good choice for the 260 owner looking for a bit of an upgrade, perhaps to twins, while remaining in the sub-30', still-trailerable category. IMO the 310 is beyond trailerable for anyone who isn't already equipped to pull a cruiser.

I could almost like that 190 if they'd drop the arch and raise the windshield just a little. That particular color scheme gives the illusion of having even lower freeboard than it already has; not sure what I think of that, but different colors would minimize the effect.

Finally, tell Frenchy to get it all the way up on the trailer next time. ;)

Cap'n, you certainly aren't as active around here anymore since you sold your boat. We need someone else to antagonize Ric, he's getting too comfortable in your absence

Hey Cap'n,

Good to see you post.

P.S. - Summer is moving on again, if you are still contemplating trailering your boat over to Lake St. Clair before summers end, let me know and I'll buy ya a beer or two.

Mike.

I'd rather be on a 28 or 29' boat with a capacity of 7 people than a 19' - 21' one with the same capacity. Don't underestimate the effect of LOA and weight. on the usefulness of a boat. Maybe on a glass flat lake there's no difference, but in the sea there is. A BIG difference. I even noticed the difference between my old 225 and the current 245; the latter is a MUCH more capable boat when conditions roughen up.

Welcome back, Cap'n! The blue RS looks really nice. I dont know what Ric is talking about, but it sure looks like more than 6 adults could fit in that layout

I would agree with Mike that I would consider this H290 if we are in market… We were not too crazy about new H260 but this H290 is more than appealing… A new H260 is a really 24.5ft bowrider and this H290 looks like 27ft in reality and would be good for ex H260 owner like us…. It looks more like size of SL 262... I would never call these extra space as waste of space or lip off…. We have no issue to pay extra for more space and power. There is no reason to cramp people into the small boat… I am sure some could put 8 people in 22 foot bowrider but absolutely better to put same 8 people into 27 footers with style..… Also these size boats would ride far better in rough water than any of smaller boat…

We absolutely want an arch for this caliber of boat…. Since recent new Four Winns models do not meet our taste and went to Crownline E6 (and very very happy with it) but this H290 might be the first Four Winns since our old H260 to get us excite a little about new Four Winns…

BTW good to hear from you Cap'n....

Being without a family or anything of the sorts, I don't see a need for a bowrider that big but I can see the market. I'd have to see one in person, when are the boat shows coming up haha. That being said my 215 SSI chap comfortably holds 6 people due to it's good layout. I have had up to 11 people on it, and it's tight but it does work. Well, would work better if I had more than a 220hp v8. Hence why I'm doing a Vortec 350 conversion this winter (340hp)

Four Winns is supposed to have a trailerable cruiser (8ft wide, 24ft long) for 2014 according to their reps at the Miami boat show. That I can't wait to see!

It also appears that the 190 trailer has been streamlined at bit as well. Gone are the loading "guides" and rear platforms on both sides, making access a bit more difficult IMO.
