Any idea what the story was behind this??

I really hope no one was in that boat and that police officer is never allowed to pilot a boat ever again. What an ass!!!!

Just saw this on the evening news and there was no mention of the officers being drunk. They said they were responding to a call and got too close. Where was it reported the officers were drunk? That's an awful thing to spread if it's not true.

The police boat pilot seamed to have no idea that a boat drives differently than a squad car!

Yea, no mention of a drunk officer.. Cracks me up the assumptions that are made, when people really have NO clue.. Yes, it was terrible operation of his craft, but it was just a big 'ole case of getting in too big of a hurry.. According to this news story, was taking off, responding to a "persons in the water" call..

Fortunately no one was hurt! We boat up there quite regularly. The DC Georgetown Waterfront is a popular area, frequented by thousands of locals and tourists every day. In fact, I was stopped by this same DC Harbor Patrol boat on July 4th and was kindly reminded not to have anyone ride up on the bow (despite going no-wake speeds in a huge no wake zone).

It's pretty clear by the video this guy was trying to show off. No excuse for taking off like that next to so many boats tied up to the wall.
