IMO, that boat is either a hurricane boat, a sunken boat that was salvaged, OR a boat that was left uncovered with the companionway open to the elements for years. What-a-mess. :( A shame to see such a nice boat in its prime in that shape.

LOL....yesterday, I wrote the seller on ebay:

Me: "You're kidding right? Needs TLC?

That boat is either a hurricane boat, it has sunk, or it was left uncovered with the companionway open to the elements for YEARS.

The boats a total loss. It will cost more to refurb that heap than its worth. Who knows what condition the engine/outdrive are in. What a mess you have on your hands."

Heres their response that I received this morning:

Flaboatguys: "thanks for being a boat expert, we need more guys like you on e-bay ,when can you start your new job"

hahahahha!

Did you guys see the outdrive picture? Looks like an old oil puddle underneath too.

Down to $610 now. I wonder if those bids we fraud or something? Or the seller bidding up on his own auction to drive price with different log-in? I have seen that before!

Wow, that's horrible

The only thing that looks good is the VDO instrument cluster? Replaced?

I see that two bids were retracted or cancelled: $1100 and $1000

And I like that stick under the port chine. Ha Ha Ha
That's going to help a lot with a 6000 lb boat (8000 lb if you count all the absorbed water).

Seems a tad misleading for a '99 in that condition.....:

"Condition: New - A vehicle is considered new if it is purchased directly from a new car franchise dealer and has not yet been registered and issued a title. New vehicles are covered by a manufacturer's new car warranty and are sold with a window sticker (also known as a "Monroney Sticker") and a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. These vehicles have been driven only for demonstration purposes and should be in excellent running condition with a pristine interior and exterior. See the seller's listing for full details."

All you need to know is the location, Freeport NY. That is on the very most southern part of Nassau County and I know for a fact many of those communities were under water during Sandy. Boats in marinas were literally all over the place (ie on Montauk Highway, a major thoroughfare, even on the LIRR tracks in Long Beach). Forgettabout it....I'm 100% sure that boat got flooded in SALT WATER....
Most of that area is no more than 5 feet above sea level and we had a 10-14 foot tidal surge during that storm...do the math....there are people down there still not back in their houses and some will probably never be rebuilt.

If you're a marine mechanic with a yard full of spare parts, this is a steal.

And no conscience for the nightmare they'd be selling on to the next poor bastard...

Given the insidious ways water can damage everything in a boat there's no way I'd ever want to be buying one that'd been sunk or otherwise completely flooded out. Especially not if it had ever been in a cold climate after the water damage occurred. The only thing worse than water damage is expansion from freezing. There you're looking at all kinds of tiny cracks in plumbing and delamination of layers in any wood or fiberglass materials.

To me the biggest headache would be wiring, FW does not use tinned wiring and all that wiring would be bad if in salt water. In this case you would expect to have to replace the engine but there's more.... Plus water soaked foam in the seats, coaming panels, all holding moisture. Gas tank, could have had salt water in it. There is a big difference between some storm damaged gelcoat, or damage to a windshield or railing vs a boat that was partly under or fully under water.

The Nautical Mile (Woodcleft Ave) in Freeport re-opened for the summer season (nice area, bunch of good seafood restaurants and a canal in the background were big fishing boats pass) which was a great thing and the beaches for the most part were opened in good shape. But there are many houses, boats, cars that are still trashed so watch out. There were 15,000 totaled cars from Sandy sitting at the former Grumman facility at Calverton LI....

The Instrument Cluster looks a hundred times newer than the rest of the boat. That could have been replaced to hide that it was flooded. The radios don't look new, but they don't look flooded either? I'm not sure if it was flooded, but it was horribly neglected either way.
