Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for a summer cottage on one of the larger inland lakes in Michigan with a private dock.

Would love to take a week next summer to either Crystal Lake, Torch, Charlevoix, etc.....but of course I want to bring the boat and keep it there at the cottage.

Dad used to take us to Houghton Lake every year. Some of my most fond childhood memories were of staying at the cabins at Woodbine Villa and fishing all day and evening. They had a private dock in the 80s, and the last time I was up there I am pretty sure it was still there.

A friend of mine rents these. http://bellscabinsej.com/
They are very simple, next to a public beach and have lake access across the road. You will have to moor the boat out front. He has a dock but I don't think it even went in the water this year because of the low water level.

Lots of other rentals on the lake too, from small cabins to $$$$ houses, depending on what your budget is. just do a google search.

Higgins lake, just north of Houghton lake is one of the nicest inland lakes anywhere ! Blue/green water and sandy bottom, it's like the Caribbean of the north and plenty of room to open up any size boat. I know there are several cabins near ours that rent with hoists.

We have a place on Crystal. Depending on what home you end up with the dock might not be a option. Gets very shallow and can be this shallow for a long way out. Meaning walking your boat in and out. Also, anchoring/buoy is how you will keep the boat. Very few docks long enough. Plus, with how the waves can kick up on the lake, I would not want it tied it to a dock anyway.

We have also rented on Charlevoix, awesome spot. Again, docks can be hit or miss there.
