This time not my boat, but my car. Pulled into a Citgo gas station in my town to get some gas last night coming home from work, the light just came on. Went to go fill it up but it was taking FOREVERRRR to pump, I'm talking like 2-3 minutes for 3 gallons so I gave up and figured I'd go elsewhere. Pulled out of the gas station and as I was accelerating the car had NO power and would make popping noises. Oh crap, bad gas/water gas. I figured well let me drive home easy, throw some HEET in the tank, and I'll put some gas in the morning. Got up this morning, car started okay good. Left my neighborhood onto the main road, started to sputter, and made it about 1/4mi down the road and it shut off. Awesome. Now it's 8am and I'm blocking traffic in the left lane during rush hour. I don't hear the fuel pump turning on. Luckily about 5 minutes later a cop rolled up and we pushed it onto a side road. About 45 minutes later the tow truck came and towed me the 1/4mi home haha. My car is a Lexus SC300 (big turbo, etc) and accessing the fuel pump is quite easy, just unbolt the rear seats and there's the hatch. Took the pump put, turn the key on and the pump sounded like it was grinding rocks. Toast. It was a 5 year old Walbro 255lph performance pump. Ate some breakfast and at 10am when the local performance shop opened I picked up a new "drop in" E85 rated 320LPH AEM performance fuel pump for $100 out the door. Bolted it in the car fired right up, and now I'm here back at work. Car runs amazing. 3 gallons of gas cost me 4 hours of work and a new fuel pump. By the way, Autozone/Napa/etc wanted $260 for a "factory" aftermarket made in china fuel pump rated at 190lph. Luckily I know how to work on mechanical stuff, this would have been a $1000 fix at a dealer. |

So your fuel pump went out, and you are blaming the gas station??? That sounds like blaming obesity on a spoon. |

Since its the fault of the gas and the pump sounded like it was grinding rocks, did you take a close examination of the fuel with an LED light? Since you always give such detailed reports, you didn't change the filter, take it apart and inspect for any kind of intrusion? What the heck were you thinking by driving in the left lane during rush hour if the car was running like crap? |

Didn't even have a chance to get over. Oh well, new pump.. runs 110 percent. I'll take it apart this weekend. Could be bad gas, could be old age. |
