Bored at jury duty...and it's raining here in San Diego today ("Storm Watch 2014" which MAY bring us an inch or two of rain), so I thought I'd post some pics of some of the boats that I've spent time on over the years - not including my Funship...

This is my bud's 36' Grand Banks:

Cuan Law - 105' Trimaran in British Virgin Islands. I spent a year down there as a dive instructor on board:

Let's see some of yours!

Erik,

Awesome collection of boat pictures you have there......

We took our boat out for the first time 2 weekends ago.......the weather was perfect.....other than an intermittent no crank problem the boat ran great........had not had it out since last august........planning on going out this weekend if it's not raining.......

Here is the boat we will be on in April......the Celebrity Summit leaving San Juan, Puerto rico......

San Juan should be a good trip. Where did you go on your boat - I haven't had mine out yet this year. We drove over the grapevine last weekend and Pyramid Lake looked pretty nice (or is it Castaic that you can see from I-5?).

If you are traveling north, Pyramid is on the left and is real visible from the 5.........Castaic is on the right and I'm not so sure you see that lake.........

I wouldn't even try to get on Castaic......they are really strict on the Quagga mussel issue.........one drop of water out of your outdrive or in your bilge and they turn you away.......200 miles round trip for nothing........

We took our boat out of Newport beach.......had some out of town guests that had never seen New Port beach......spent a few minutes in the open ocean but mainly cruised the Harbor looking at all of the houses and Yachts......

Next trip we will go out of Dan Point harbor, motor down to Emerald bay and tie up........the kids can swim to shore or swim in the shallow bay.........

Nice pics!! We walked around the marinas at Shelter Island and by Seaport Village today and after that drove out to Point Loma for a hike along the shore! We had been preoccupied with house projects this winter but now can't wait for boating season(for us) to start!! Looks like you guys have some great boating here In San Diego!!

You're in San Diego? I'm heading down to Shelter Island this afternoon - that is where the Grand Banks is slipped.

BTW - great timing....you're here for our only bad weather so far this year.... :(

Haha thats what everyone keeps telling us! The morning we left my pants froze stiff when I took the garbage out in sub zero temps, and last night I got to sit in an outdoor hot tub in the mountains overlooking the city while smoking a fine cigar and sipping on some Gentlemen Jack...so definitely a good weather trade off

We are curious about those boats moored in the bay side of Shelter Island opposite the Marina, are those moorings where the livaboards stay? Some of those boats looked like they had been there a long time.

Yes, long term moorings on the bay side - most of them do appear to have been abandoned, however....On San Diego Bay, you are allowed to live aboard in the marinas however on Mission Bay, you are not.
So are you still in San Diego? If you are down in the area, it'd be great to meet up and I'd be happy to buy you a beer this afternoon!

Erik

Sounds great! We are planning to head to a place called Churchills in Old Town around 2 to meet up with my wifes sister. After that not sure where else were are heading. I'll PM you my cell # and hopefully our paths can intersect for a beer!

Just found this awesome video of one of my favorite places to boat. Traverse City Michigan.
Should help get through these last few weeks of winter. :)

Very cool video, thanks. We went out for dinner with our boating friends last night, we're all starting to get pretty desperate to see spring arrive!

Here's a pretty cool gopro video from my favorite lake, Smith Mountain Lake VA. Don't know the people in the video, just came across it one time.

This one my brother's daughter made using clips from a few weekends at his house at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos. Couple shots of my kids in there too. One pic of my FW. The chap was his boat (he just upgraded to new Cobalt 220). My dog is the terrible swimmer!

Found another great one of the boat traffic in Charlevoix, MI. Quite a few FW in this one.
This would make a great screensaver on my work computer. Help remind me why I'm working so hard.
